Someone change my vote. I voted that I was born in the delta, but don't live there any longer. When in reality, I was born and raised in Grenada and now live in Hernando...both of those locales are close enough to be called "the delta". (although my ears do pop sometimes when I'm coming off a valley hill into the flatlands)
put me in the still live there category.
Oh heck no. You ain't gettin' "Delta status" when you were raised in Grenada and now live in Hernando.
Heck, boy, you gotta live the Delta blues to get the Delta status.

I know all about the prejudices of you refined Delta Planters toward us hillbilly's BUT....we farmed in the delta, and I was there everyday...that has to count for something.
But at least I had sense enough to get out of the mosqitos at night.
Oh yeah, and the water I toted to the field in my water jug didn't have chunks in it.

I ain't no home boy but I have been hunting the Delta for 14 years. Back when I started hunting the Delta it was a thing of interest not animosity that I would drive from Alabama to hunt ducks.
I got a start from a guy I worked with in Alabama who's family farmed in the Delta. I'd skip a few days of college and combine that with a weekend and help during cotton harvest and in return I hunted a couple of different spots on thier property or places they leased farming rights to and got the heads up to some jam-up public holes. In the early days it seemed like each sucessive hunt I went on was my "best hunt ever" and my friends from the Delta would be griping that there really weren't any ducks around since it took us more than an hour to limit.
The OOS'ers are everywhere and we have guys from Florida and Georgia coming to hunt the marsh around Mobile so go figure.

I thought so...you are a true testament to the American spirit of capitalism and democracy. I mean where else in the world can you be born a poor black man from the MS Delta and work your way to a well to do banker socializing with the Jacksonian uppercrust.
