Let's put this OOS thing to rest.
Someone change my vote. I voted that I was born in the delta, but don't live there any longer. When in reality, I was born and raised in Grenada and now live in Hernando...both of those locales are close enough to be called "the delta". (although my ears do pop sometimes when I'm coming off a valley hill into the flatlands)
put me in the still live there category.

I hunt the Delta and I was born/raised and live there still.
Hunt my own land in Rulevile, born in Indianola, lived in the same house (with the exception of my first three months on this earth but just moved across the yard) my entire life. We's a farmin family

i'll never complain about where somebody comes from, just how they act when they get here..... as long as you are curteous, respectful of the resource and your fellow hunter, and you use a little common sense, you are fine with me....
the problem doesn't stem IMO from people coming from SC, Al, Florida or wherever, it stems from them coming in and setting up on top of other folks, skyblasting, and ruining somebody else's day.... as far as the driving up of lease prices...some folks have no common sense, regardless of where they currently reside....
oh, and I didn't fill out a survey because there wasn't a category for "not from the Delta, doesn't live in the Delta, but feels like you're coming home when you get to the Delta"... with all it's imperfections I have come, over the past 15 years to love the Mississippi/Ark/Lousiana "Delta" more than any place in this country....

great post wingman...what a lot of people dont realize about the Delta and its residents is that they believe if you dont live there you are essentially an OOSer
born in Memfrica, lived there two short months before my family moved back to Cleveland, lived in Cleveland 25 years, Merigold for another two, Southaven for a short stint and now in Jaxn area...working on becoming an OOSer
and h2o dog if it aint flat it aint the Delta

I mean, who is making the real sacrifice here, the guys from the hills or those of us who live in the Delta 24/7/365?
You know who you are. You live in Jacktown, Tupelo, Southaven, Meridian, Hattiesburg, etc. You own a dog named Delta, or Cotton, or something Deltaish. You think gumbo is a cajun food and you think red clay is really bad mud. You have Delta towns under your avatar so folks will "know" you hunt "the Delta."
If you live in Batesville or Yazoo City, you're close enough to be called a Delta boy, I guess. All the rest of y'all hillbillies have no grounds to gripe.
Of course it's all in fun. We welcome all you outsiders any time of the year. You boost our economy. We love you even though you pronounce it "bell-zo-nee"!
Us Hill Country folks subsidize your way of life with this thing called profitability. The taxes that we pay end up supporting those in the delta region, so in a sense, you owe us.

Note: I am not talking about subsidizing farmers, I mean the other large demographic group in your region.
I had a fella last yr. tell me about how his tierd of all the out of county hunters coming in. The county line was 1/4 mile form where we were hunting. I lived 7 crow miles from the hunting spot and he drove 1hr to get there. But, I was in his county.
I have been wondering( you now us that havent been duck hunting for 10+ yrs do alot of that) when someone for MS goes to AR to hunt is he a DAMN OOS? Or does one's knowledge and or post count trump the OOS card?

I been hunting it the last two weeks

you can rest assured I am well versed in the unwritten rules of the big muddy and would never put myself in a situation to have such an accident

plus this new baby girl has pretty much got me grounded this year
and I know I have crossed the line and am technically an OOSer but am willing to accept that plight, heck pretty soon I may even be spotted buying GHG clothing and posting my kills on the internet!
