Every duck has its special attributes: The mallard is big and vocal, the wood duck wildly colorful, the teal swift and erratic, and the redhead and scaup divebombers of reckless abandon. But for me, none is as elegant as the pintail. They are the wariest of all ducks ( excluding perhaps the black and the mottled duck). They are my favorite! What is yours?

Teal, Woodies, Mallards, Gads, and too heck with the pin-tails, one sprig in a bunch of mallards will ruin the whole morning.... the little whistlin sob will keep any bunch of ducks from workin..... he will keep them high an wide..... maybe that is why i luv to take one or two.....{kinda like cripplin a scout crow}
they are all fun to watch, and this ain't the time of year to turn me on too duckin... gettin kind of hungry....

I like those big fat ducks with the green head. For eaten I like those sweet little teal's.
For the Black Ducks They have been singles, or working with mallard's. Then you just pick him out and drop him.

As far the pintails, by the time they get through working you have mallards already on the water.

If you really want to test a dog you let about 50 shoveler's just come right in and seat about 3 yards from the blind.

Thank goodness someone made a post about Duck's

My favorite duck is the one Im lowering the boom on at that moment....
Sprigs work different. Just cause they don't say HEY DECOYS! and give it up, don't worry. A typical pinnie gig is big oval circles, and lots of time they leave once or twice, and then come back. Wait, be patient with them. Nothing is as graceful, as that long neck stretched, and that choc head sticking out, 4 foot off the water. I used to think pins where to be whacked first pass over, till I waited them out and saw what they did. A flight of pinnies flipping upside down on a hard wind is nuff to make ya not be able to shoot. Widegons give me the fits, they ball up and dive at 45 yards, then work higher and higher till they leave, taking all the mallard with them. This is a particular habit of the area we hunt, and have experienced it year after year, but dont seem to have this problem when I go elsewhere (hence the battlecry, EARLE WIDGEON MUST DIE!). A pack was made to kill any widgeon that crosses the 50 yard line first pass regardless of whutever is in the air. Their forces have taken heavy losses in the last 2 seasons doing this, yet they still contiue to wage the war. Pinnie/widgeon tip...they love goose decoys. They both straf rag spreads, and will decoy like gaddies to a honk spread and power (goose)calling. travis

My favorite would have to be the Greenhead. Next would be the Wood Duck Drake, Greenwing Teal Drake, and the Gadwall Drake.

Picking out the black duck within the mallards is tops for me. Other than that, The drake mallard is the game bird for me.
