Sorry Greenhead, alducks.com is taken.
Guess what. I'll bet if you go over there you will see a thread or 2 griping about OOS'rs on G-Ville. All of ours are from Georgia, Tennessee, and the Carolina's though. Some OOS'rs are a pain in the butt while others are just guys looking for a place to hunt that respect other hunters. I'd rather have a guy from elsewhere hunting near me that is going to hunt a few days and be respectful, than a low life SOB slob hunter who lives in my back yard and screws up things year round. From what I've read on here, you have your share of MS slobs just like we have our AL slobs. You can change the tag on the truck, but a slob hunter is a slob hunter no matter where he's from.

Just checked it out .... the thread about the AL hunters hunting the WMAs in Mississippi is enough for me to say you better hope none of the MSDUCKS gang defects ... it could get outright stupified!

If you're talking about the "hotbed of culture" crack, I think tuscaloosahunter was poking fun. It tends to happen a lot on here. Just because we don't live in MS does that mean we can't crack jokes with the rest of you? If there's a non-resident license needed for that, I'll be sure and buy one.
Here's the way I look at it, if you want to hunt polar bears, you're going to go way North. If you want to hunt Elk, you're going out West. If you want to see ducks, you're going to Mississippi and Arkansas. That's just the dynamics of things. As long as a person obeys the laws and respects his fellow hunter, he shouldn't have to put up with a load of crap if he goes somewhere to hunt out of state. I've never hunted the fair state of Mississippi. I've been content with tuffing it out here and settling for a hand full of birds each year. Hopefully that's going to change this year and I will get to go on a hunt in the Tunica area. While there I will not behave myself as a topwater slob and I don't expect the locals to act like one either. To treat someone differently just because they are from another state just shows ignorance and stupidity.

driveby can roll with the punches.
I understand what he is saying. I have Elk hunted in Wyoming. Deer hunted in Texas. I fish the Redfish Tour events in Louisiana. Heck, I even married a fine lookin Louisiana girl. I was way over my limit there!
I see both sides of the argument here, but as long as the OOSers offer me a cool one or some fire water and maybe a friendly hunt with fellow outdoorsmen, I ain't got a problem with it.
Heck, I probably could be convienced to go with them to a gold pole swinging event.
Why can't we just get a long?

How can you fault someone for trying to better his chances to have decent shooting. I work to pay my lease and pay a fair price. I don't hunt you public land and have never. I can see you points on how crowded you WMA's have become, it really isn't a bad idea that a Out of State hunter should have to be in a draw to hunt them to control the numbers. I understand you tax dollars maintain those and can see your frustration, but don't get mad that someone wants the same oppritunities at hunting you have become accustomed to and in some cases think you are owed. It is a free/open market out there. I also agree with your concerns of overshooting, but true hunters/managers do alot of things like yourself in limiting shooting times, roation of fields, rest periods. We are more alike than different.

Anyway, the OOS pressure on our WMAs becomes far less salient when we don't give discuss public hunting locations on messageboards. I do hope they are not allowed to enter for draw hunts, though.

Did I really see someone from Alabama question the cultural merits of the fine state of Mississippi? Other than that book about the state bird of Mississippi, what exactly are you referring to as culture in Alabama?

Do you really want to go to a cultural war with the state that has produced more Pulitzer Prize winners for literature than any other, even though her population is miniscule compared to most others? Do you really want to question the cultural spirit of a people who rate #1 in per capita giving to charity?

Shoot y'all can't even fall back on football this year! MSU...State Football Champions of Alabama!

J/K (kinda) Just had to represent for my home state in the cultural battle. Tell the truth, I have lived in GA more years than I did in MS. But, I will always say I'm from MS...I get more respect, no matter where I am.

Now that I've stood up for our fair state, can I come home and hunt some? I feel kinda like I need to ask permission.

Not to get technical but the site is called ducksouth.com.. Although you can get to it from msducks.com. I believe it started as a MS duckhunters site but has grown into a southern duck hunting site.. So techically an OOS could be considered an "Out Of South" hunter, then all of us southern boys cound just bash the Yanks that com on the site..
