Need Some Help Please!!!

Postby SkippyJ » Mon Mar 24, 2003 11:01 am

Anyone know of a taxidermist that does the "bust" of a lab holding a duck in it's mouth?? If so let me know how to get in touch with him. Had to have my old Lady put down yesterday morning and I'm wanting to do something special for her memory. Never be another like her.

I dont know how you feel about driving to Tennessee to get it done, but there is a place in Millington, Tn. that does those types of things. I'm not sure of the price either. The name is Millington Taxidermy. The number is 901-872-6777. They will do a good job and get it back to ya pretty fast as well.

SkippyJ,

Sorry to hear about your dog, we all get a little more attached to our dogs than most would care to admit.

yeah anatidae.....it is suppose to be the "next thing" in taxidermy. I have been in the same place Esteslane mentioned.....he had dogs from California in the Dehydrating machine. It's expensive i think. But they Dehydrate them like they dehydrate the turkey heads.
Not trying to make this subject a bad one. I know how you feel....I lost a female lab last year as well.

Now by all the post I've read from you Randy, I KNOW you're not serious. (Or do I?) Surely you wouldn't think that I'm considering having the dog itself mounted. Hell this aint Roy Rogers and Trigger.

WOODEN CARVINGS of a Lab they some taxidermist sell with a duck you provide. In this case a true red-leg Black she picked up for me.

I'm really hoping this was a attempt at humor to make me laugh in this low point I'm going through.

And I'm going to leave it at that!!

Don't feel bad Anat., I thought the exact same thing....that he wanted to mount his dog's bust!!! I re-read his post 3 times, i.e., "looking for a taxidermist---bust in memory of my dog" and got the same impression, until he mentioned the wooden bust idea in his later post.
I went to an outdoor show in Memphis a few years ago, and saw a booth where a taxidermist did, in fact, mount beloved pets for people. I guess it's not all that unusual, but I still can't get the look of that stuffed Pomeranian out of my mind!!!

Thanks for clearing that up, Skippy. No......loosin' a dog isn't a subject to address with humor. I've had to put several to sleep.......'haven't gotten over the last one, YET....never will.

From the way you worded your post, I honestly thought you were going to have your dog mounted.......and I couldn't believe someone would actually do that.

I've seen the bronze dog busts with a mounted duck.....kinda neat.

I'm truly sorry 'bout your dog.......forgive me if I appeared insensative. I know how hard it IS, to 'let go'. Hang in there.

Skippy J, Came across this the other day, I believe it is what your looking for. The Bronze Lab head is made by Ivan Harvey, 800 327 8213.
Hope this helps.
