yeah, and they make a god-awful sound....kind of a squawkin-skreech sound

what's the difference in the doves..haven't really noticed any new doves in the area..

We see quite a few here in northern part of the state, but they seem to stay around town more than mourning doves. They act alot more like pigeons.

bullie you hit the nail right on the head...they do seem to act a lot more like pigeons than they do doves. They are, as best I can tell, about half again as big as a dove, but somewhat smaller than a pigeon. They seem to be a bit lighter in color than the dove we are all use to. Their sound is unique..sounds like a cross between a crows "kaw" and the doves "coo". I have only seen them in collierville tn and nowhere else (yet).

There are quite a few euro doves in bolivar county. I proably killed 50 or more in my sunflower field last year.

captnt, i was told that they taste just like a mourning dove, but i really dont know myself but if they keep coming in the back yard like they have been, then ill let ya know right after labor day.

Is there even a season on them? Since they aren't "mourning" doves and seem to be a dovelike pigeon, can someone legally give us a late March taste test?? :lol:

I saw a bunch last weekend at dad's, thought seriously about breaking out some 7.5's. Dad told me that they are domesticated doves and go shoot the hell out of them...... :lol:

i know that they do not count against your limit of mourning doves. So during dove season you can kill 15 mourning doves and however many other ring necks you kill. Don't know if you can kill them just whenever though

you know, i have never even thought about that. hmmmmm makes good sense though. we might need some expert help on this one. if we can kill them anytime then i have another question. what would be the BB GUN of choice. would love to break out the old shotgun but since they got this silly law about shooting firearms inside city limits then i guess i will have to try and take them out one at a time.

the eurasian dove is not a member of the mourning dove and there is no season on them..... they are no more regulated than the english sparrow and you can harvest them at any-time of the year as long as the weapon of choice is legal during that time of season.... meaning that a Daisy is perfectly legal in my area..... they have began nesting activities and i see no reason to take them unless they are a nusince... do as you please and they have started a banding program on them in 2000.... look for hardware........haha.......

I have seen quite a few in Hernando. I live in Northwood Hills by the way. I have seen them behind the co-op and on Vaiden where my mother-in-law lives.
