Re: Recreational use on Crops lands
Due to lack of funding created by Bill A2935c, it will be necessary to stop all traffic, both foot and ATV on all Crops of Engineers properties for the remainder of the 2007-2008 hunting seasons. This decision was not an easy one, but one that had to be made due to the cutbacks set forth Bill A2935c. This decree is effective immediately, however leniency will be granted during the 30 day grace period beginning October 22, 2007.
It's better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

that's what i was thinking "funding"?. Were are the regulations for hunting these places. My first adventures ever hunting was with my Grandad and his brother in law behind a pack of hounds. Never shot anything but that was fun. I do believe all those people turned the dog's lose, road around on fourwheelers, and built fires. I learned how to build a fire, drive a fourwheeler, and countless other things on Corps land. I hated when my "uncle Jim" passed away. Not only did i miss him but the memories of hunting that land still brings a smile on my face. Haven't hunted it but a few times in the past years but man those cold mornings when i was soaking wet, my grandad building a fire so i would stay warm, and those older gents giving me lesson in life where what it was all about.
Hate to hear it. My first "sho" nuff buck that i saw was on corps land. Still hate i didn't shot him, man oh man what memories this is stirring.

i think that this is a bunch of bull malarky. im gonna hunt on the corps land until mr.green jeans runs me off of it! every one of use pays taxes after taxes each year to the government. budget cut or not how is free hunting gonna cut into the budet? well its not. funny how they have gone through my hunting areas already this year putting new markings up. im sure it wasnt a good samaritain doing so. ive hunted the corps land for years and never even seen a corps officer, only a state game warden or three. im calling bullchit on this, so called policy this year.
i wasnt in a good mood about it at first, it sorta got to me. now i think its funny that i got owned on this topic.

This is the first i've heard of it. Where was that quote taken from? I couldn't find a reference to active legislation in either the U.S. House or the Senate. It couldn't be a state bill because they don't control access to federal property. As far as I know all Corps projects use the state seasons and regulations as far as fishing and hunting are concerned but they can choose to restrict access to certain areas or require seperate permits. An area can be restricted to access by foot or ATV but it shouldn't be funding related.
