Lasik Again

Postby SkippyJ » Thu Mar 06, 2003 7:34 pm

Thanks Model12 for all your help about the surgery.

To let everyone know, there is a clinic out in Dallas that does the complete procedure for $450.00 an eye.
This includes-

Pre-op procedures
The actual surgery
All post-op procedures
6 months of check-ups
They pay for your hotel
And most of all..
They provide you with entertainment for the night with one of Dallas's finest escort services!!!!!!!!!!!

So after thinking long and hard, I'm going out there and have mine done......

Lasik Again

Postby CvlEng » Fri Mar 07, 2003 8:01 am

An alternative to Lasik is the EZM program. Dont ask me what it stands for. It is basically corrective contact lenses. I have used them for about three years, and its the best money I've spent. I just had alot of reservations about surgery.

All you do is put them in before you go to bed and take them out when you wake up. I see 20/20 all day. I wear mine every night, but my doctor said some people can go 3 or 4 days with out having to wear them. It just depends on your eyes.

Not very many doctors are in the "program". Dr. Mothershed in Tupelo is and will give a free evaluation to see if you are a candidate.

Just an option!!

Skippy, not to burst your bubble, but a few comments take them how ever you want to. First off if I told you you had two weeks to fix your heart or you were fertilizer, would you pick the cheapest or the best?? A bad result from the surgery can mean not seeing worth a crap, especially at night. Take your time selecting a physician to perfrom y our surgery. A few other points if something goes wrong, like DLK, or epithelial ingrowth, you will have to be seen multiple times for weeks, how will this affect your job if you have to miss three or four weeks due to trying to fix your eyes? If you do it locally won't have to miss so much time if something goes wrong, but if you do it in Dallas, you are screwed in my opinion. Contrary to popular belief, LASIK is a good surgery, but NOT everyone comes out perfectly. What happens if you don't come out perfectly?? How many trips to Dallas can you afford as I seriously doubt they are gonna pay for all those trips, the first one maybe, but subsuqent trips, I doubt it.

SkippyJ,

Might I suggest Dr. Mark Meadows in Baton Rouge for $599/eye plus $110 for pre-op exam. This also includes all drops, etc. Business partner used him 1 1/2 years ago with excellent results. Several friends used him also with the same. My appointment is scheduled for 4/18.

I did extensive research for weeks and he appeared to be up to par, not some chop shop at a cheap price. Not hacking your guy, maybe just offering a good alternative closer to MS.

Phone # 225-767-5525

Good Luck !!

By the way Jeff, are you familiar with a Dr. Jeff Singer in Metairie & Gretna?? What's his story??

limit6, Dr. Singer is who I refer most of my patients to for LASIK. I have acutally personally watched some of his work, I consider it to be very good, as good as anyone else I have seen. I am also familar with Dr. Meadows, I don't know a lot about him, nor do I have any personal information about him, but nothing bad comes to mind when his name pops into my head. I would stay away from the Williamson eye clinic in BR, I have heard some bad reports about things that have happened over there. Hope that helps, just e-mail me if you have more questions.
