Louisiana Teal Results

Hunted Pearl River WMA opening day of early teal--three of us scratched down only three teal. Yes the water was high, but there just wasn't alot of birds down yet. Loaded up and went to the Wax Lake side of the Atchafalya Delta on Sunday and still only managed to kill four between two of us. Back at Pearl River this morning and killed six between two of us. I just don't think that they are here yet in great numbers. Anybody else do any better?

We have not had any teal for squat down in my little corner of the state, Iceman. I have been twice and killed a total of 4 birds. Bummer.

Iceman, what part of the PRWMA did you hunt? I did not get to go this weekend, but may try my luck next weekend. I have been hunting there since the state bought it. I usually hunt in the ponds up from Mud Lake. I have not been down the river in some time. Was there a lot of grass in the ponds? I sure hope that things pick up.

Shoot them sprigs on their first pass!

Well fellas I got the shakes right now so bad I can't stand it. I'm headed to the Valhalla of tealdom, the mouth of the river Wed. morining. Apparently they have been killing the snot out of them down there. However if they weren't it would be a big time bad thing, like the earth would have to be out of rotation or something. Then again if I go down there, I am sure the teal will be gone by then with my luck. Hard to believe there weren't many teal down at the wax, that's a bad sign too. Anyway, come hell or high water I'm headed out on WEd and Thur and will let you all know how I do.

Hunted Bayou Bienvenue on Saturday, the water was high and there were few birds...I think we saw 8-10 total...did manage to shoot a few crows though.

Sunday hunted Delacroix...killed 7 birds. Had a decent number of birds in the area...but not full like normal. I don't think the birds are down in full force yet.

Jeff, I'm sure you'll have some luck at the mouth. You huntin Pass a Loute or Delta?
Good luck, be safe, and report back.
