Mahannah Deer draw
I've been drawn for a achery hunt in Mahannah Oct 14-19 and I was wondering if anyone had any insight on how things work there. I've tried calling and usually get the answering machine, anyway just wondering if anyone has seen the process in action. Do you draw for a block to hunt each day? Pick your own spot first come first serve? Any way to sign out and see where other folks are? My biggest thing is that I've only duck hunted there and don't know my way around the woods on the place and I really don't want to get out there and screw someone up who has done there homework. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

alabamaman1,
I have a hunt at mahanna 6,7,8th of Oct. I called and talked to Lee Harvey at mahanna monday. He said you must have your WMA permit first thing! Saturday is the only scounting day. No Guest unless you put their name on your entry form. It is first come basis and yes you do kind of sign in with WMA card you pick up at the station by the shed, but no you will not know where other people are hunting. All the other general information is on the website or the paper mailed to you. I have deer hunted private land that borders mahanna a few times so that is the area I plan on scounting. Their are many private clubs around mahanna so make sure you know where you are. I will be more than happy to help you out with some locations(depending on how my hunt goes)

I was an avid Mahannah hunter up til last year. No major process, works like any WMA, get a card place it on the dash and return other part when done. Easy. The gun hunts sucked last year because the WMA has allowed so many people at one time. Whay have adraw hunt if you are going to overpopulate the place???? Bow hunting willbe tuff cause the short duration may not allow you to make proper adjustments. Great place though until they ruin it!!!!
Sorry!
Anyway, really easy . Get a card and follow check in directions. If you want directions to a honey hole PM me. I no longer hunt it!!!!

GOOOOD Luck!!
It was 93 degrees on sunday hunt and I lost about 10 pounds. Not one deer all day long. I even road around between hunts to see what I could see and nothing. Only 1 other hunter that I saw all day. Did not even try hunting Monday and Tuesday. This weekend lucks alot more promising, so shoot me an email at cdorrell1@yahoo.com and I will help you out with what sign I did find or you can call me at 601-218-6449 anytime during the day.
