Which one would you buy?

Postby CB » Tue Oct 02, 2007 2:40 pm

If you were going to buy a Polaris Ranger, would you buy the 500 or the 700? Now I realize that I am opening myself up to a bunch of wisecracks jokes but give a honest answer. I mainly just do normal riding and hunting, will be traveling on gravel roads, fields, turnrows, (not in delta, so no gumbow), some low river bottom land. around beaver ponds. Give it a thought and which would you get if you were going to get one! Thanks!!

If The only difference between them is the engine size then I would say go with what fits your needs. I have found that the towing capacity tops out with about a 400 CC bike. My 400 CC is 1,000 lbs capacity. So is the 500 and 700.. So a bigger engine only gives you more get up and go off the line..

I had a 500 6 X 6 and traded for the 700. I wish I had the 500 back. The gear ratio is screwed up in the 700. Its ok on anything except in muddy conditions. I have to run in low range 100% of the time and the 500 would do the job in high range. One thing about the 700 -its got the power.

if your not gona be in the mudd all the time why not go with one of the japenasse little trucks...... my hunting camp raised dues this year by a 100 bucks for one year in order for us to purchase one for the camp. we put our dogs in them and it is the best thing ever. i enjoyed it so much more than a bike.
If it wasn't for bad luck then i would have no luck at all........

I bought the 700 for the extra power, more aggressive tires, and the speedometer/fuel gauge on the dash. You probably can't go wrong with either. I'm pleased with mine, beats a four wheeler in my opinion.

I also forgot I have a older 4wheeler that I hunt with, wife is pushing for the Ranger for running around the place and out at the cabin.

Anyone else have any mud concerns with the 700 vs 500? If I go with one it will be the 4x4.

I got a 500 with some aggressive tires and have yet to have it stuck. It can go through some nasty stuff and it has plenty of power for me.
