AGREE: IF there is a better gun for the money than the Benelli automatic, I am not familiar with it...My Benelli is the first and only automatic I've ever bought, preferring 870s until they went cheap and the Benellis came on the scene...

DISAGREE: Unless you are hunting geese ALOT or prefer pass shooting to decoy hunting for ducks, the SBE is overkill...Get the standard Benelli Model 90 instead...Save the weight and save some money...

LOGIC: 5 years ago I started hunting with the Benelli Model 90, the standard Benelli autoloader as opposed to the magnum Super Black Eagle...My gun is lighter than the SBE which really comes in handy tromping through the turkey woods mid-morning, towards the end of duck season on a green timber hunt and dove/quail hunting because it swings faster than the SBE, yet still shoots 3 inch magnum loads for turkey and ducks...

I've never missed a turkey with this gun and killed them as far out as 50 yards (with a special HS Strut turkey choke) and I have killed hundreds of ducks with it in conditions ranging from rice field pit blinds to green timber to cypress brakes to soybean field holes, over the decoys or over the tree tops...I would not shoot at ducks any farther out than the ones I regularly kill with my Model 90 even if I had the SBE...Plus I've killed enough snows/blues and specks with this gun to know that BBB or F or T will do the job on those birds at ranges up to 60 yards...

Finally, the Model 90 is several hundred bucks cheaper than the SBE...This is not to knock the SBE, just to suggest that some guys would be better off with the lighter gun.

Mark did it, DD, it's his fault, but I still believe that Benelli's aren't worth the money, Beretta is #1!!!

Agree with you Primos on the Winchester SX-2! I also shoot a Beretta Pintail (poor man's Super 90) that functions flawlessly.
