Do you stop?

I don't unless I am by myself then I will. But it got me thinking because last night me and my son were headed home form church and I passed a guy walking. He was about 25-30 years old black man. His pants were down and to his knees and I did not stop. I told myself if Trace was not with me then I would have, but I don't think I would have. I just wanted to hear your opinions. I have got to the point where I don't htink it is safe anymore. I still pick a few people up in town that work at hardees and Mcdona;ds because I know them and have given them rides several times. But I just don't think I am going to be picking up strangers anymore.

1. Is the person male or female? How old are they ? Are they carrying anything, or just walking? Have I seen a broken-down car in the area ? Have I ever seen them before ? Are they on a back road, or a major highway ? Are they probably homeless, or maybe in trouble some how ?

2. No. If my wife just left Wal-Mart, then the car is full of stuff. No room.

3. Same questions as #1

Nothing wrong with stopping and asking if they need for me to call someone to help them out. My cell phone in one hand, and 9mm in the other.

Pretty much the same answer.
I am not against picking up a hitchhiker, but it aint gona be someone that is freaky looking (scares me).

You never know. I picked up one a couple of years ago headed to Memphis. He was 28 and a teacher was traveling the country that summer staying with old college buddies and seeing the country. He started from New Orleans and had taken him 3 days to get to Clarksdale. Anyway shared the ride and enjoyed the company (he was a fellow hunter also).

I don't pick them up when I have wife or daughter with me.

I don't, just not the same as it was 50 years ago..

or 20 years ago....I'm 31 and remember my uncle offering pretty much anyone he saw a ride, even with a little kid (me) in the car. not an option these days.

hate to say it but I'll even call the sheriff before I'll stop for someone broken down on the road, at least in the delta, heard too many bad stories.

I absolutely would not unless I know them. I had a good friend that was murdered last year after picking up a hitchhiker. Damn shame, he was the kind of guy that would do anything for anybody. Probably would have given the SOB everything he had in his wallet.

Seriously, I don't stop for anyone. There are situations when a clean cut lady is having car trouble I will stop, but if its a dude he should know how to fix it himself. Too many staged car jackings these days to take the risk.

I've picked up two in the past. one gave me a case of budlight for a 5 mile drive. my brother was following me at the time thou.

the other, it was an older man outside greenville. he always carried a five gallon bucket with him, and i knew him through the store i worked at. he was a traveling missionary? i think. came from jacksonville, FL and stopped in Minnesota(sp). it twas a very interesting ride, to say the least.
