$35 to fish the rez...
anyone catch this article in the paper on Sunday? Thoughts? I'm ok with it as long as the money is used to maintain the rez and not pay someones $200,000 salary

"That includes, for example, a $50,000 contract to clean the sandbars on the river after each weekend.
It is rediculous that people are such lazy slobs that someone has to be paid 50 grand/ year to clean up after them.

The free ride for all state owned land is coming to an end. WMA fees, Natl. Forest Permits, Launch fees at every launch.
Yet they are wondering why hunter numbers are going down. Once they have killed the hunting heritage then the fishing will be next.

Its seems like every year, you start having to "pay" for something that has already or is currently being paid for with our tax money already, it is called greed. As far as saying, I have always used the rez and $35 is not going to stop me from using it, well that is what they are hoping and EXPECTING you do do!
I have a solution to end all problems. Everybody stop breaking the law and we won't need officers. Then they can use that leftover salary money to clean up all of the crap on the sandbars and you won't have to pay a user fee!
I thought of this on my own, I promise.

look at it like this, you pay to fish state lakes, you pay to hunt WMA's you pay to fish COE lakes, you pay to hunt NWR. Lets face it guys the reason some things are now cost us $$$$ to use is b/c the amount of $$$$ it takes to upkeep and patrol these places is going up, its like wingman said its a crying shame it cost 50grand a yr to clean up trash after weekends but its got to be doen b/c people are so dang sorry they want pick up after themselves. besides is $35 a year really gonna break anyone esp after they pay all that $$$ to hunt and fish other places or spen $100 to fill up thier boat with gas ect..... Hell fire I am a 23 year old college student and if I can come up with it anyone can, just be glad you guys arent paying for out OOS fishing or hunting license I just bought my Florida fishing license and it was $100 for just a fishing licnese. Remember no matter how bad it gets it could always be worse
Life is to short to only fish on weekends

Maybe you boys need to use some of them boys that are in jail to clean up the banks. I see the women in strips cleaning down town brandon two or three times a week.
But you are right, Humans are trashy and greedy. I know of a couple on here but I'll not call any names.

Remember what comes with the $35.00 fee?
Being hassled about having it, paying a ridiculous fine if yours has expired, being stopped & inspected for the sticker (or whatever) more hassle, where to get it, when to get it, etc. etc.
Don't forget, in five years it will be $75.00
How many stickers & receipts do I need to float a phugging boat. Oh yeah, and life jackets, air horn, fire extinguisher, another signaling device, throwable flotation, note from my Mom, etc.

Them ducks is wary. We now resume our regularly scheduled forum melee in progress.

The only problem I have with this line of though is that it is an oxymoron. It's illegal to trash the sand bars. If everybody quit breaking laws, we wouldn't need somebody to clean the sandbars.

I know I'm splitting hairs. Sorry Wingman.
More than the issue of paying to use property purchased with tax money, I see another issue as a causitive factor: the critical mass of users on these facilities. As the volume of use increases with the population, you can count on more restrictive covenants for use and costs for use.
The real culprit is the lack of enough facilities. We are reaching a critical mass of population for the land we have for public use. It is causing the problems at Mahannah, at Panther, at the Rez.
How do we fix that? Easy, buy more, right. Yeah, right!
Pessimistically yours,
