ONLY ONE HUNT
ONLY ONE HUNT
Use your imagination on this one….
While walking on the beach, you stumble across what appears to be a little bronze lamp. Beaten by the waves and marred by sand, it leaves little to be desired, but seeing the good in almost everything, you try to rub some of the crud off. True to all the fairly tales, out pops a genie, and this ominous conversation takes place.
“sir, I am the great and powerful allie kazhem and I’m here to inform you that the world will end in 3 days. Understanding that no one has done everything they have dreamed of doing, I am going to grant you 1 final wish to show my appreciation for freeing me from my prison.â€
Normally, a hand might wish for billions, or a whole harem of concubines, but the world is ending and you want something more……as luck would have it, duck season is just around the corner and been on your mind lately.
Your answer, “allie, I’d like to hunt waterfowl one last time.â€
“VERY WELL MY MASTER!!! Where would you like to hunt and what would you like to hunt? And master, as a special touch, you can hunt w/ anyone in this world or the next.â€
Now, this question has you stumped…………who, what, and where – always pertinent questions in life, now seem so difficult to you.
Seeing your frustration, allie yields to common sense (so often missed by many genies throughout time) and eases your trepidation, “Dear, kind sir…do not be troubled, the world will not end for 3 days. I, powerful allie, will meet you here at sunrise tomorrow for your final decision.â€
With this, the genie disappears.
So, fellas, what say you………………………WHO would you hunt w/, WHAT duck/goose would you choose to hunt, and WHERE would you make your last stand?
Curious ramblings, gator

Great question.
I'd like to hunt with some of my ancestors starting with my dad then his dad and so on and so on for a handful of generations. I think it would be neat to meet and share a blind with my great great grandfather (who's name was William Wallace by the way). I also would have to save a hunt for my kids and their kids and on down the line. Wouldn't it be cool to meet future generations you've given your name to and see what legacy you've left behind?? I don't care where the hunt takes place or what kind of success we had but we'd need a big pit and party shooting would be acceptable!!

To me it would have to be with my Grandfather who passed a few years back that taught me to hunt. I would not care where we were as long as it was being with him. I still remember those cold days on a Alabama beaver pond busting woodies when I was young and the stories he could tell.

My last Duck hunt with my Dad.. It was his first and his last.. It was juswt Woodducks in Leake county.. But it was good while it lasted..
Ok I am changing mine.. If I could I would go back to a Dove hunt (any dove hunt) on our South Texas ranch. With my Dad and My Uncle. Those were some great times. Me trying to load a 20 Ga single shot as fast as I could to get my limit of Doves. Then me, my Dad and my Uncle would walk back and clean the doves and enjoy another weekend at our place.

I'd hunt with my grandfather in eastern Arkansas or the River near Greenville during the mid-70's.
I dunno, maybe we'd hunt preceding baiting laws.

the location is probably the least important part....i'd probably say hunting in eastern Arkansas during the 50's.... hell maybe Claypool's Res even in 1956.....
as for the party, my Father, my Father-in-Law, My Great-Grandfather, on my father's side (I got to knowhim well but never got to hunt with him, he passed when I was 24 at the age of 98)... my children, both girls but i'd want to share it with them... my wife, who has been saying she wants to go for the last few seasons but never does.... my Uncle, David (my Dad's brother-in-law, he and my dad were the ones who carried my worthless little booty to the woods every weekend growing up).... and I'd probably like for Nash Buckingham to join us just so I could meet him....

I would say the party would be with my son (who can't wait until he is big enough to go), my grandfather that has taught me to hunt many years ago( who's eyesight is leaving him due to macular det.???spell??) My brother Daniel who I have started hunting a couple of years ago, and my ole faithful buddy Rich, (Never have I called him and he said NO!, never has he called me and I said no either!) And my crew from Soggy Bottom: Willis, Lightning, and Bo.
Location: Doesn't matter as long as there is a tornado warning! Flooded timber would be the desired location, Temperature around 40-45, N wind and greenheads in your face. Would like to shoot a limit and have some coffee and savor the sunrises since I only have 3 days.
Location II
A nice location would be (speaking of N buckingham) the .410 hole. It would be nice to go back in time and hunt a morning with him and some of his buddies at any hole just to see what it was like back then.
I have told this before on here, but one of my customers used to go to the camp with his dad and they hunted with Nash. He said that he used to love to go down there and see all of the ducks and hear the stories that they would tell. He told me that he actually has a log from the camp of the duck numbers and species that was killed. I haven't seen it but he is going to show me it. He claims it is unreal!! He said that Nash used to ride the train down to what ever town it was where they lived and they would go pick him up and take him to the camp and that his dad, Nash and the other few guys at the camp would hunt he would wait for them at the camp to hear all the stories of the mornings hunt. He was unfortunatley only about 6 or so at the time and his dad would not let him go hunting with them, but he still remembers this very well.
That would have been a blast!!

so many stories and laughs where shared! we even got buzzed by teal and nobody pulled up a gun...just a hung over morning shared by new friends in the cat-tails
so guess i would like to go on any kind of hunt wif ole webfoot we had tried to plan sum hunts togetherbut or schudels just didnt match. iam not picky give me a hot day in a gar hole or 32 degree slight north wind and a heated blind and big ole butted and titted up gal serving breakfast and dranks
even let ole bubbles guide us (msduckmen)

It would be a squirrel hunt with my father. I would be 8 years old again...slipping through the woods right behind him trying to impress him with my stealth...but messing up a few times stepping on dry branches. Freezing when he held his open hand out beside him. Then easing up beside him to make a shot on the squirrel he'd spotted. Damnit I miss him.
I'd want to hunt one last time with my late grandfather and his dog Bert at his old secret spot on the big river, in his old 17ft boat with the burlap blind and his old Wingmaster that seemed to bring down every duck he pointed it at.
