You know Matt, this is not about you, this for some reason has gotten way off base.

I don't know you from Adam. What I do know is that people go duck hunting to shoot ducks. That is not and never will be the issue with me. What is an issue is what is done with the game after the hunt and if the hunt was a legal hunt. Or if non game animals were destroyed or abused. We all should care about those issues.
Numbers mean a great deal to many people and in no way can you tell me that you or anyone else can eat that many birds. Even giving them away is not always easy. However if you hunt legal and you use all that you harvest in a manner that justifies the kill then no one has a right to say anything to you. However many will try and guide people to a more spiritual meaning to the hunt and many times that is where the conflict comes in. People today for the most part gauge the hunting experience on the harvest. Agree, disagree that is your option. However I see many a picture posted with birds laid out in the number killed reaching the hundreds. When does it change from hunting to killing to slaughter?

This post that I so gallantly high jacked started out with me saying I don't like Phil or his methods. And I don't. Gang shooting is illegal and he does it on every video. He is known to destroy wildlife for no more reason than the fact it passes his way. He believes in growing his own ducks to shoot and promoted it to the DWFPs to try and make it a legal program. He belittles women and preaches the Gospel yet does things that are not Gods will. He has the ability to mold young people in a positive manner yet likes the shock value better because it sells videos.

I have taken more than my share of birds over the years. Anyone on here could be a better hunter than I should they choose so. The real question is what is considered a better hunter? Numbers? or method?
Anyone can stick a spinner up and attract ducks, anyone can shoot a duck sitting on the water like Ole Phil. Anyone can sneak up over a rise and shoot into a group and kill as many as they want. Some call that hunting. I call it shooting.

OMG people. You only see what you want to see. What duckmen was saying is the water swatting, any animal killing duck commander sometimes doesn't represent what some of us would call a "sportsman." I don't see anywhere where he bashed your idol and said he doesn't believe in killing ducks. Do you? Show me if so. Of course duckmen and others like killing ducks, just not muskrats, blackbirds and any other type of animal that comes around. Talk about fuel for the anti's. "It's all about the memories with a few ducks mixed in" says the hunter, "yeah and every other animal that walks, flies or swims by, just look at that dc guy", says the anti. I am sorry but anyone who shoots tweetie birds and muskrats, etc don't belong in my duck blind, much less blowjos. I am sorry if it offends you and I know the dc can blow a call but I haven't bought a video of his in a few years but I know the last one I did buy had cool music, duck head biting, SKY BUSTING, random animal killing and mojos to suit the desire of even the mojoest of mojo lovers. Show me some huntin'. No wonder new guys think duck hunting is so kewl. It is a sport for kewl people only.

I have met Dan M. and know him to be a man of integrity who is passionate about hunting in all of it's forms in the state he so dearly loves. He IS a conservationist who for many years went out to the Ross Barnnet Rez. to plant cypress trees on his own and with anyone willing to help him just because he was concerened about the loss of said trees out there on the "upper" Pearl(above hwy. 43) in just his lifetime. He told me before the rez came to be, they were thick out there. He LOVES to kill ducks as we all do or his views would be different IMHO. He also cares about the local habitat and what we are going to leave for our kids and the generations to follow. He is honest so some read more into it as if he is attacking them. He is just talking about hunters as a whole and their ethics going down the tubes for a variety of reasons!


Back to bashing but remember, He has more friends here than most of us!

I didn'tknow being a student was a career......although I thought it was at one time....too bad it wasn't , I coud have retired fourteen years later
