No Ducks???
No Ducks???
I dont have a clue what you guys are bitching about, we hunted the river this weekend and saw a butt load of ducks and might I add busted the hell out of them. All Mallards, wondered where the gadwalls were we usually see. Thousands and thousands of ducks. You want to see noooo ducks, slide on over to South Carolina, you guys are just spoiled. Get out of those heated blinds with easy chairs in them and do a little scouting and real hunting and bam, you would be killing ducks too. Case in point. Went to Arkansas with a guide one year, dont like to use a guide and never will again, anyway, he took us to this flooded bean field with a posh duck blind, that was all good and well but the ducks were pilling into a hole 300 yards away beside a leavy that was thick with brush, we hadnt fired a shout all morning and had to force him to let us go over there to the levey and hunt carolina style. We buried up into that nasty brair infested, cuckleburr, honeysuckle strewn leve in the mudd and busted the hell out of those birds as they kept pouring into that little hole. Bottom line, if you want to consistintly kill ducks, you got to go where they want to be, not where you want them to be.

I love it when people assume everyone on this board except them hunt in heated blinds with high dollar guides and on and on... NOT everyone sees ducks all the time....How many times have you hunted and ducks flew behind you hmmmm...Now if we could just train those ducks to fly in predetermined routes we could all see all the ducks and limit out each and everytime.....Most guides put people where they feel ducks would be....most guides I've seen/heard of are human and want their clients to kill a limit each outing.....Its a business to them....
Hey, Bates, not a way for an OOS'r to win friends and influence people! Just for a refresher, it is not considered polite to bash folks after visiting their state and enjoying yourself. Perhaps, a better tack would be to congratulate them for having the sense to live in such a wonderful state with a bounty of ducks and tell them that you'd would like to meet some of the good folks from MSDucks and get to know them. That way, you might just get invited to hunt once in a while, instead of making a butt of yourself and ensuring that noone on this site wants to be within ten miles of you. You may be a heck of a duck hunter, but you sure don't have much sense. Come to think of it, SC may be a good place for you. Bates, I bet no one ever called you Master as a boy, did they?

Spoiled? Don't think so.
Get out of our heated blinds? Been hunting ducks in my home state of MS for better than 25 years and I have never hunted in a heated blind.
Go to where the ducks are - not where we want them to be? Two schools of thought there...1) If you have a lease or own property, you want the birds to be on that lease or farm. If they aren't - you as the one leasing or owning the land has a right to be disappointed (IMO). 2) If you are mobile - your statement is the obvious and we do it every time we hunt ducks. Thanks for the tip.
Hunting the river...you need to be experienced on the "big ditch" before you even attempt to venture out there. I have hunted it many times and killed many ducks. I have also hunted it without seeing anything. The conditions were right from this artic blast to push ducks down the pipe. The water is too low for the most part. Don't assume everyone has the equipment to hunt the river - it is dangerous and your ass can drown out there in a heart beat. To attempt it without at least a 15-42 boat and enough power is perhaps foolish. That kind of rig isn't cheap.
Bottom line (as I interpret from your post) is that you are stereotyping MS duck hunters.....should we stereotype everyone from SC as being a know it all?
I personally had two good hunts this past weekend and I am sorry the fellas that didn't do as well didn't kill ducks too.

REMINDER:
the INJUN<<<<<<<<<<was adopted by Mississippi Delta family this year.
There are TWO Carolinas.
There are always a few that go their own way, not representing the majority.
Duck Hunting in the Carolinas really is frustrating about 98% of the time.
Id dam sure rather be in the Delta than N C during the duck season.
Question:
Where the heck are those heated blinds he was talking about?
Why cant we all be as cool and tactful as Softcall?
