who has the best CT...Philips, Toshiba, GE or Siemens? Also, is the 64 slice all it's cracked up to be AND are independent 3D workstations (TeraRecon and VitalImages) really all they claim to be???
Imaging has gone nuts and there are opportunities everywhere...soup to nuts ... tech's, RD's and MD's man. The Radiology Today rags have stuff all over the place...great field unless you are looking to get in PET CT...reimbursements are getting tanked.
Where do you want to live??

The CT scaners are all about speed now. The more patients on and off the table in a day the more money you make ,except at UMC where most dont pay. We use GE scaners at UMC but I am new to it so I dont really know what is the best. Its tough to get a job in some areas right now with all the classes graduating.

Well Lodi Quaker, good luck on finding a job, the market is totally flooded right now here in the Metro area especially CT, MR, Nuc Med. You may can pick up some Prn spots but those are still not garateed. These junior colleges are pumping out techs left and right and are not thinking about the market. I work at River Region in CT and we got the the new 64 GE. It is alot faster than the other models. But where it really get interesting is the 3d recons that we do after we do a heart scan truly amazing. I have only worked with the Ge scanners so far but I recently got a job at the VA and they have the phillips and have heard that the techs there like the phillips better than ge. They say it better user friendly. Ducksak they could'nt pay me 40 an hr. to come work there at umc. yall never stop its like hearding cattle through there. I worked as an ER tech for 6 years and have taken a many of patients to yall. It sux. I think I know who you are strongriver, you would'nt happened to hunt a club named Lonsome Doe would ya? Lodi Pm me I've worked at all the hospitals around Jackson and know alot of people who can possibly help you get on. Try the Va with your military experience they'll take you up pretty quick. I was prior service in the Air Force and it helped me get on there. Benefits are the best around, you can't beat the federal benefits.
SHOOTER UP!!!!!
Yeah you aint lying about hearding them through there like cattle. It is one behind the other. I am actually in CT school there. I know that sounds dumb to go to school for it but I guess the experience and the class will help with the registry and getting a job. Cause like you said the market is flooded right now. I could have taken a night ER job at UMC but its not what I want to do for the rest of my life. What do you know about traveling? I am single right now so I thought about it.

My ex went through the same thing, came out of umc and went through hell finding a job. She was having to compete with all the juco grads with 4.0s She now is making a little over half of what the market was paying when she entered umc.
I had no problem finding a job coming out of UMC. Jobs there are some of the highest paying in the state, but you work for it. I had to turn jobs down to do CT. No imployer cares if you had 4.0 in JR. college they wont to know if you came out of good school and can do the job. You know what they call the person graduating from Med school with the lowest GPA? DOCTOR

I would love to live in MS but I dont know if the money is good enough to bring me home. MO, AR, TN, MS, LA, somewhere along the lower MS river.
Sorry I dont know anything about your CT question.
PET CT is a CT scan but you can actually see the bodily function in motion as opposed to a static image....kind of like a fluoro loop stacked into CT... It's a strange market...
Anyway, I looked at the Christus Health website two days ago and there were several postings for ARRT credentials...all in the great state of Texas with the exception of Cabrini in LA. St. Michael in Texarkana is a good facility too.
