Franchi

Postby dbarnes » Mon Jul 09, 2007 6:31 pm

In my opinion, Franchi's 912 Variomax is one of the best guns ever built. This is the model before the I-12. I would assume they applied the same quality and craftsmanship into this gun as well. I have shot Benelli, Beretta, Browning, etc. and Franchi as out performed, out lasted anything on the market. My guns chamber into the 10,000's of rounds/year from Canda to Mississippi and I have not found a higher quality gun. I am a true advocate for Franchi. Several friends of mine have the I-12 and have had great success. The only draw back is it will not shoot 3 1/2s.

have one myself, and would absolutely recomend it. no issue to date, and is one soft/smooth shooting gun. If your interested, my bro n'law works with a fellow that is selling a new 28" camo I-12, that hasn't been shot. Shoot me a pm, and i will see if he still has it.

Had the 912. Opening day of 2005 1st shot of the morning the action wouldn't close. Got back to camp and took the receiver apart and a spring had come lose and worked its way out of position. Took it to Surplus City where I bought it and the gunsmith braded it back on. It shot fine the next weekend, but I really never trusted it again. Anyway it got stolen out of my truck in Jafrica the next weekend. I hope it blew up in the SOB that took it's face.

I'm glad you decided to pick up a new gun. New guns always making the batting average go up!

Me, my brother, and my brother in law all have Franchi I-12's and we love them. Same mechanics as Benelli with half the cost. My brother did have a small problem with the shell ejector on his but he sent it to Benelli and they warrantied it, fixed it and had it sent back within 30 days.

They are fine guns, even if they sort of have that "benelli smell" to them..... :D

I've got a franchi o/u, i've laid all my other shotguns aside and hunt with it exclusively now, many cases thru it with no problems except the last weekend of january it took to firing both barrels at the same time, which is not so fun.

I just got the Franchi 28 gauge auto and like it so far. Seems a lot "tighter" than my Benellis..
