Remington

Postby missed mallards » Wed Jun 13, 2007 8:16 pm

I've got a Remington 700 chambered in 270 that refuses to eject the shell. I figured most that view this site has at least had some interaction with remington so i'm posting this here.

Is there anyway i can buy the whole bolt for the rifle?

All in all, My rifle's screwed up, my shotguns screwed ups, i'm at the point where remington isn't to great right now. just figured i'd ask before running and sending them more money.

I know this is kinda obvious but take it to a gunsmith and let them look. There is probably something broken in the bolt housing that won't grab the shell. Taking the bolt housing apart is easy but I would take it by a gunsmith and let them take a look.

When you say it refuses to eject, does that mean it extract the shell or doesn't throw it once extracted? If it is the latter, the spring is broken in the bolt housing. Look on the face of the bolt and see if the little button has tension on it.

Bolts are mated to a specific rifle. I don't think you can interchange them.

DO NOT swap bolts and fire without having the headspace checked first!

are you shooting factory loaded ammo or reloaded? if its reloaded the case neck may be too long causing it to stick in the chamber

No i'm shooting factory.

the bolt will bring the bullet back from the chamber but will drop the empty on top of the magazine.
