I've got a Sony and like it but the only problem is that you only have 30 minutes on a disc and you have to finalize the disk before you can watch it on a dvd player, so if you only recorded a few minutes and want to watch it on a player, you will have to lose the rest of the space

I bought the JVC D270. I like it a lot, but I wished I had bought a sony. The sony has the same features, plus night vision, and AV input. The av input allows you to transfer video onto you camcorder (from VHS etc...) so that you can make them into digital files. You also can use an external lens (bullet cam) that you can attach to your gun with the sony's.
Best bet is to go to Best Buy and figure out which one you like, then go ebaying.

the Sony is buck for buck the best in my opinion, except that you can only record 30 min. at a time; but very user friendly, easy to operate, etc.

I just picked up a Sony DVDirect at Fry's in Las Vegas. It will transfer your VHS, 8mm, and memory card movies from a camera or camcorder to DVD. A cool toy at just under $200. Id get a digital memory card Camcorder then transfer to DVD or computer if I had ta get a new one. VERY versatile 8) 8) 8)
