Fishin question

Postby alabamaman1 » Mon May 28, 2007 6:30 am

I've got a fishin question I'd appreciate some help with. I've got a couple of days off at the end of the week and was planning to come up and fish Lake Chotard, Albermarle and surrounding areas. I see that the river gauge is going to be at 24' or 25' Will there be any decent fishing to be found? Crappie/Bream/Bass? I was told by a local from here that it would be a waste of time to go up and fish if the water was that high. Here's my problem with his opinion: he's from here not there for starters and I haven't seen the water fall below 20' feet this year, so I am I to assume that no one has caught fish on these lakes this year. Trying to take my dad and I don't pass up an opportunity to fish with him for the weekend, but I don't want to be on a lost cause kind of trip either. If you guys have any advice I'd sure appreciate it. I have a house on hwy 61 near Valley Park so I guess driving somewhere other than Chotard would be an option too.

Don't know much about Chotard but other lakes here that are affected by the river are slow. I would try Eagle Lake

Don't know about Chotard but the river is falling and it should be on in a few days at Ferguson and Whittington.
