its not hartguard. I know dogs on every single thing that have come up postive. More on hartguard cause more dogs are on hartguard.
Dude, unless its a bad advanced case, putting it off a few weeks to finish an hr isnt going to hurt anything.
Mine go every 6 months for checks now. Dropped a dog off for treatment today. he was neg last summer, and has been given the pill since Ive had him in dec, but I cant speak for what happened last fall, so who knows. travis

another one positive
I know how you feel. I took my HRCH MH female to be breed and get her yearly shots and she tested positive. I am a total freak about heartworm preventative and that is my second dog in three years to test positive. Its not right.

I don't see anything changing in the near future. The pharm companies arent going to put money into devloping a new product. Their sales have not fallen much cause there's nothing else on the market to buy and they are no longer guaranteeing their product. The vets are making a killing, One or two shots of Immeticide and they just pulled in about $600.00.
Everybodies making out like a bandit except of course, the dogs and their owners.
It's a sad deal called Corporate America.

After my dog got HW's on interceptor last year, I dose Ivermec twice a month all year and have not had a positive yet.
Did interceptor pay for the treatments?

Bayou Beagle:
No Interceptor did not. I had the dog check at 12 mo and again at 18 where he came up positive. Interceptor claimed I wasn't dosing him peoperly at 6 mo. I couldnt prove he weighed less than 50lbs. He only weighed 60lbs at 18 mo. In all, it was a bunch of crap so they didnt have to pay the bill.
I don't think interceptor or hartgaurd are guaranteeing their products anymore. If you call them they will insist there is not a problem. They are still making a killing so why invest in reseach. It's all about profit and not the well being of our dogs. SAD SITUATION!!!!!

update on the heartworms
Heart guard is claiming that my dog got the worms before 6 weeks old, so now they are saying that they are now giving the first pill whenever you come in for the 6 weeks shots.
My vet however has gone to bat for me and they are supposed to take care of it all, but they told me to first keep giving the heartguard like normal for 6 more months then retest at that point. I did get the 6 months supply for free from heartguard, but to me it still seems they are still getting off light and have overlooked this problem for way to long.
