I'm taking my 6 year old son camping/fishing next week and am looking for a good bank fishing lake/campground in North MS. He is armed with a new Rhino rod combo (these things are great), and he is ready and rarin' to go.
We went to Tippah County Lake last year and did well, but we were in a boat. I would prefer a more secluded spot, but would trade that for better bank-fishing action.
I remember camping/fishing Puskus Lake years ago, but didn't do real well. Has that lake improved?
I camped about 10 years ago at Davis Lake off the Trace. The grounds were really nice and had a decent looking lake. When I was there there were some folks night fishing with lanterns. Any tips and/or advise on this lake?
I would be willing to travel 2 hours from Olive Branch for a good spot. Species of fish doesn't matter, just enough action to get him "hooked". Any advise would be appreciated.

Try Elvis Presley Lake in Tupelo. Plenty of places along the bank to fish. Has a big fishing pier as well. Trolling motor and battery and rent a boat can easily make it around the lake no problem. Close to plenty of places to eat as well if the hotdogs get burned.

Thanks guys for the suggestions, but my little guy has requested a secluded spot that we can "really camp", as he says. A couple of weeks ago when the fish weren't biting at Arkabutla spillway, we did the hike along the nature trail and played Survivorman, drinking from watervines and all. He ia quite specific in his expectations.
Not much on the web regarding the fishing at the more remote lakes.
I like the idea of Greneda, I was planning on visiting the spillway next week anyway. Is there a campground near the spillway that won't be crowded on the weekend? Any areas that a little guy could wade? He has hip waders he is itching to try out.
I've never tried the old river run at Enid, but have heard goods things about it.
There was one site on the web that suggested lakes near Tupelo would be a good choice, being there are several choices.
I have until next Friday to decide, so any other suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks for the responses. I am trying to decide between Bear Creek in Tishamingo, or Hugh White at Greneda. Someone suggested camping near Graysport and wading the creeks. With the water so low, is there enough in there to wade? Hopefully this storm we are having will bring the lake levels up.
Anyone ever fish Haynes Lake in the park at Tishamingo? How about Bear creek itself?
