I'm sick and tired of this double standard applied to white men! This country is headed toward some hard times. Not long ago we all heard of the movie "White Men Can't Jump". What if I tried to come out with one entitled "Black Men Can't Swim"?

We should have picked our own cotton!

I know there were injustices done in the past. Idiots try to compensate with reverse discrimination. This my friends is going to lead to more and more hostility between the races.

The black and white communities alike need to forget the mistakes of the past (on both side of the issue), forgive one another, and be happy.

One other thing, it's a sorry !@#$&*$ that uses this sad situation to make political gains (Nickels--Oklahoma).

go24..You hit Sen Nickels on the head...not only has he used things like what you talked about to gain politically..But he was one of 7 of the 101 that voted NO to a military pay raise of 4% a few years ago...And in return his sorry ass recieved nearly 60% pay raise that year!! I'd love to give him an ear full...I'm from Oklahoma and NEVER again will I or anyone that serves in the military (that I've talked to and that knows his voting status) Vote for his sorry butt!!!!

Had this arugement last night at the family Christmas thing, and again this morning...

Whut in the hell did he hurt? I mean think about it... No matter what he meant, whut did it hurt? Obviously he didn't mean some back door racist comment by it, even if that was what he was thinking, he sure as hell wouldn't say it. So I keep asking, what did it hurt? Nobdy can tell me, except he should be more sensative.......WTF? Since when does being sensative got to do with his job?

Think it's funny as hell memphis news lead off with people calling for trent to resign his postion over putting his foot in his mouth, then had a story bout some the lastest big black church rocked by scandel that voted 2/3's to keep their pastor! Mayor of memphis was invovled in several scandles on the school board before he even got elected, and a couple since, but nobody wanted him to resign, and won't even get into the shady policies of memphis school board and shelby county sherrif higher ups that come out weekly... and NOBODY has called for any resignations.... This stuff is good stuff too, sexual harassments, kickbacks, bogus bids, all the stuff you can get into trouble in in poltics real fast... Trent sticks his foot in his mouth trying to be nice to an old dude on his brifday, and they want to fry him. After all, nobody got hurt no matter the intent... Nobody lost their job, stole any cheese, filed a lawsuit... It'd be funny if it weren't so jacked up.

1948 presidental election based on segregation.... In 1948, segrgation was the norm. It shudda even raised any eyebrows. Yeah, it wouldn't be a very good stance for a politician today, but in 1948 it wouldn't have been unheard of. The framers of the constition owed slaves (a lot of them did), it was the norm at the time... Didn't make them anything but normal...and it doesnt change what they did either.

Hell, the man can't get away from the public eye for more than two minutes at a time..... if every time I turned around, I had a microphone and camera shoved half way up my nose, I'd probably mess up once in a while, too....

The bad part about the movie "white men can't jump" is that I'm sure there were white folks who ran out to see it on the opening weekend....but, on the other hand, "O", a controversial movie about one black kid playing b-ball for an all white school and eventually shooting folks, goes untouched..... why? because folks are more at peace with seeing folks shot up in movies and about seeing folks hustle for money while woody harrleson tries to slam-dunk, than they are about stopping the production of that filth, and watching a good b-ball movie like "HOOSIERS" (the one with Gene Hackman)....

Trent Lott can't be expected to be perfect 24/7/365, and neither can anyone else..... wasn't it not too long ago that we heard of "the Rev.'s" illegitamate children? nobody called for his staying out of politics, and hell, he ain't even an elected official.....so why does his opinion count so much? Don't see too many camera crews asking Dennis Miller what he thinks.....

love to talk politics and economics goose funny you should mention memphis just recently hailed as the most dangerous city per capita in the us yet it is the most african american friendly (highest percentage of african americans in government than anywhere else in the country, except maybe dc) the crime accompanied with all the aforementioned ailments memphis suffers from...what does that say about the leadership?

trent lott, in my opinion is one of the best politicians ms has ever had or possibly will have he is the closest thing to a president we might ever get and holds just as much power now the same people (ignorant masses) that benefit from his position in government are the ones asking for his resignation

it is hard to tolerate uneducated and uninformed opinions
if he is forced into resigantion maybe we can push to get him a cushy job at the US fish and wildlife

thurmond has been involved in politics in some form or fashion for longer than anyone else yet i have been told there is not one single article of legislation that can be attributed solely to him what a great politician

What is amazing to me is that Sen Byrd of W. Virginia was not only a memeber of the KKK but a recruiter for them, yet you never hear a word about it, from the demos or the blacks.

The demos are just looking for an issue cause they have none of their own. They still just don't get it, they lost the mid terms cause they just don't get it and if they continue this diatribe (and I am sure they will) they will loose the presidential election again this go round. Damn I wish gore had stayed in there, I would love to beat his ass again.

Trent may have put his foot in his mouth but in the end what he said, it wasn't worth getting upset about, regardless, it's just the demos trying to demonize him just like they did newt gingrich.

Here is a little know fact about Able Lincoln. During his presidency before the war between the states, he offered to have the US government pay the slave holders (in both the north and south) for the slaves and send them back to Africa. Imagine how well off we'd all be if congress had listened to him

Trent shouldn't say he is sorry anymore. Once is plenty. If they don't accept it the first time - screw them. I don't know why he is going on BET tonight. I praise the man and think he is a wonderful politician...but he is starting to look pretty weak by saying he is sorry over and over again. The people that are in an uproar about this aren't ever going to be happy. It is their nature to bitch and moan.....let em have at it. It's like trying to keep the middle east at peace.
