lipsplitter, drakeshead, gulfcoast or others w/stealth exp
I noticed a picture in a reply of lipsplitter and/or drakeshead that you had ducks laid on a stealth 2000 (I think). Do you guys have a motor on that boat? If so what kind? Seems there would be clearance issues with the offset motor mount. Has anyone seen a small mudmotor on one of these?
Saw in a review where the weight was actually 143# and not the 100# as advertised. It also said it didn't handle well under power and that the motor was continually hitting the side of the boat in turns.
What has been your experience with the stealth?
I'd like to get one to float a small river with some shallows. I like the plastic construction of the stealth as I'll have to winch it out of some high banks from the river.
I sent an email to the company but, have not had a reply.
Anyone else with stealth experience please comment.

I have never tried to put a motor on a stealth. I think you would have to buy a separate bracket because of the way the transom is done. I will have to look at mine the next time I go up towards the camp house.
So many ducks, so little time....

I just bought a stealth from BBR12. He engineered a go-devil style trolling motor and a homemade bracket on the back. Pretty cool. Haven't used the trolling motor yet but it looks like it will work well. BBR12 can afro engineer anything it looks like. He's pretty creative
Why is my mouth so dry this morning, when I drank so much last night?
The side mount of the stealth has a reason, maybe. Saw some dudes from SC once with cable system from rear mounted troller on a sneak boat. Looked like real problem managing this...logs, shallow water, and such. The heavey weight of the stealth prolly makes you want a troller though. I don't see the need for such on piroques, etc. they're easy enough to paddle but kinda hard to mount and get out in over knee deep water. So, maybe the side mount has more advatages/managability than one you can't easily get to... Just some stuff to think about and I never been in a stealth so for what's it's worth. Here's some CreekBoats that are plastic and have the rear troller deal. Being able to turn around, access the troller, or stand up looks like would overshadow keeping the prop off the side. Then you'd have the battery to deal with too; but GRND22 would plug his mallet machine into it and then no juice to get back on...Oh well....

stealth
I bought a kayak paddle and works pretty well with my stealth 2000.it scooted right along very well and I weigh about 300lbs. the paddle works really well as a push poll also as long as the ground is not to soft.I haven't used the motor bracket much ,but I did notice the trolling motor does need to be lowered down a good bit for clearance.

i am a dealer for otter and may seem a little biased. i absolutely love mine. it is a bit heavy but no problem to handle. it goes great under power. i use a 36 lb tm with mine and love it. i wouldnt really want a gas motor on it cause you dont need it. you can do anything you want with just a good paddle. it is extremely stable and would be great for fishing in sloughs and small ponds. you are welcome to come test mine out if you want give me a call if you decide you want to take a look at it. 601-317-6103

Thanks for all the feedback.
My plans are to float a small river with this boat. One of my put in points and take out points is 17 miles apart. I don't really want to try and float the whole 17 miles in one day and I don't want to stash another vehicle at the take out point. I wanted to float until I was ready to leave and then motor back up to the put in point. This river can have some decent current after rains, (and shallows at other times) thus the reason I wanted a motor larger than a trolling motor.
From what I'm hearing, sounds like to I need to rig me up a small jon boat with a small motor??? However I just really liked the plastic construction (for loading and unloading down the river banks) and layout of the stealth.

it would probably work real well with a 2hp gas motor but since i havent used one with a gas motor i cant give you a realistic opinion. i would much rather have this boat than a jon boat as far as comparing the same size jon to this. it is extremely stable. a very high thrust tm might do the trick as well. i use a 36 lb and it will haul butt let me know if you want to test drive
I have had a 1200 for about 4 years and it has done me well. I would be careful of putting too much motor on the side bracket. I have a 50 lb motorguide and it will dang near tear off the supplied plastic nuts and bolts. I just bent two all thread rods to the bend of the plastic ones and used metal nuts and washer in the place of plastic. This seems to work, but take the trollong motor off while hauling it to and from. The prop will hit if you try and run it shallow, just let it down. Put the battery up in the front dry storage to create space. All of this will get heavy quick but it is worth it if you are going to cover alot of water, otherwise use a kayak paddle.

actually a 1236 jon boat would be lighter and easier to load / unload on a river bank. the stealth is surprisingly heavy. and it is not designed for really long runs in a river.
