Missouri and Tennessee

Postby BigBlackMallards » Fri Dec 06, 2002 1:26 pm

I was just curious if any of you had heard from friends or relatives north of Mississippi that would know where all of the ducks are now. I've seen a few sporadically around central Miss., but nothing to speak of. At least it's looking better than last year. I hope there will be a few ducks following this front that we just had come through the last couple of days. Good luck hunting, can't wait for the ducks to wrap Miss. up!

Appreciate the report. I take it that ya'll are still having good luck hunting up there. We have a few ducks scattered around here, but it will take cold temps up your way for us to get a push of ducks. I've heard that there are lots of WMAs in Missouri that you cannot hunt but they feed the ducks constantly during the season, keeping them there throughout the whole season. Is that true?

I stayed home today to complete some overdue honeydo's. Three hunted our pit in NW AR and only killed 1 greenhead. Said they did not see any birds. AR is closed next week, hope they come then. Sorry for not having good news. If I hear from any of my TN buddies I'll let ya know.

Thanks for all of the reports. I'm finishing up classes tomorrow and was just wondering if I was going to have any ducks to go home to this weekend. Sounds like there may be a few, but if there aren't just tons of ducks in mo. and tenn., are they farther north than that still??? Can't ever tell about duckhunting, always hit and miss.

Talked to some buddies from southeast Mo and said they have been locked up in the fields for about 9 days. This should push some ducks down but we need another major snow storm to cover the ground.

I've had a few reports from central miss. that there are a few birds around. I'm gonna try and do some hunting in the morning, eat some duck tonight, and hit it bright and early. Being outside this evening was downright "ducky" feeling. Good luck to everyone and maybe Miss. will kill a few ducks this year!
