Haven't been on the forum in a while but it looks like things have changed for the better!! Hunted some on the lake here at home just because I had time to and wanted to see if any migrators were coming down the river. Set up on the end of a point a couple of different days and both days some guys in a big boat with a couple of dogs in the boat came in a little later than me and my partner. They called at every duck that came within seeing distance which made for a miserable morning. Then at about 8 or so they decided to pick up and leave. To my horror, they passed within 40 yards of us and the rider in the front of the boat leveled off and started shooting at coots on the water between us and them. We both hit the mud guns and all and could hear the shot skipping all around us. They knew we were there and surely could see us standing in the cypress trees. The next morning, I was by myself, in the same spot. To my dismay they showed again and returned to the same spot as before. I didn't succumb to temptation to go confront them as I figured if they were stupid enough to shoot from a moving boat directly at people hunting, it probably wouldn't be a good idea. Sure enough, about 7:30 they picked up to leave and dorve their boat into the lily pad field directly in front of me and this time there was 3 people in the boat. The shooting started and coots were dying by the handful and they continued this for a good 15 minutes. Luckily this particular morning I had a disposable camera in my bag and snapped 12 pictures of the idiots and had them developed. They have been turned over to game and fish for evaluation and hopefully some steep fines. Keep your head down and be safe becouse some people can't think before they act. Obviously not enough grey matter to think.

I do a lot of reading but don't post a lot but I had to respond to this. I'll give you the benefit of a doubt and assume you are innocent and didn't provoke this, although there is no excuse for somebody doing this. Having hunted that entire area for the last 22 years I know exactly what you are going through. There was a rash of trailer stealing a few years back and every year there are people stealing ATV ramps, flatening tires etc. Funny, it always seems when I start seeing trucks I've never seen in the area before, I also start hearing of trouble. I know from past posts that Duckmen and others run into situations on public land with people listening to you kill ducks and then moving closer and closer to you until they finally set up (at daylight) practically in your spread and then proceed to tell you they have been hunting there all these years and I should be the one to move. I am constantly amazed by the new crop of knuckleheads each season brings. It sounds like someone got tired of being beat into a hole and having to listen to you kill ducks, so idiot #1 says to idiot #2, "hey, we'll teach those guys and maybe they won't come back". WRONG ANSWER! All that stuff does is stiffen my resolve, besides make me want kick somebody square in the ass. I would report stuff like this to the wardens that work the area. You can usually find one of the wardens at the Coldwater point ramp or at Hickahala if you want to report the incident. They might cruise by your parking area if you let them know whats going on, they are a pretty good bunch, but spread too thin.
Stano, your idea is a good thought in theory but my experience is that most of the areas best spots are closely held and you'd be hard pressed to get anyone to fess up to exactly where and how they are killing ducks. In the past I naively have tried to help others understand how to hunt the area only to have them turn around and invite 10 others and before you know it public areas around there turn into a circus.

I would love to post the pictures guys but I don't have the means with this dinosaur I use. Plus, I don't have the pictures but was assured I would get them back. On the first occasion they were in a 16ft. tiller steer with some kind of camo tape all over the motor. The second time they were in a different boat with console steer and an Evinrude 40 or so on it. 2 guys the first time 3 guys the second but I recognized two of them as being the same both times. I will assure that I am fairly passive and don't provoke situations. Its generally best just to move on to another spot. Idiots with no ethics and guns just doesn't appeal to me. When enjoying the outdoors, or trying to, it would be sad for my wife to have to have my tombstone engraved "Shot by idiots while duck hunting".

well?
I really don't know what ya mean about trying to get sombody to give out there secret hole I know most of'em in the area if not all of em I wasn't trying to pry out a place to kill some birds......I doubt anybody could tell me a spot in that area that I haven't hunted at some point I just wanted to know the parking area thanks to a pm I do now. These A-holes that stoop'd so low as to damage sombodys truck may be in for a suprise I spoke to the wardens in person about this and they are aware some of this is going on so whoever did this be on the look out there might be sombody in the woods watching for this crap from now on!!
But anyhoo I think this area is shot out for now pray for some cold weather!!
