Where are the reports????

Postby BigGun » Fri Nov 29, 2002 4:45 pm

Is anyone killing anything? I know Arkabutla is dead unless you have 500 dekes and a lot of string, but anyone killing anything in the delta. I haven't been their in two weeks, but I haven't seen a bird on my lease in Lula. Lets see some reports of the killin or no killin.

3 of us killed 12 by 9:00 this morning. cypress brake in North Ms...not a lot of ducks, but very little pressure by other hunters so the ducks would actually work us. I posted something about it on here earlier. I think a lot of people thought the season re-opened tomorrow instead of today.

My Dad and I went this morning - Things were slow to say the least.

One shot - One Drake GWT (might get him mounted)

Didn't see nearly as many birds as last weekend. I think the ducks we saw last weekend were local birds and now they have gotten wise to hunters and have found diffrent places to hang-out.

Let's hope for a strong NW wind and snow up North.

2 hunters
11 ducks in North Mississippi (not delta)
like DD said, not much pressure so they would actually work, kinda unusual for public hunting.

Saturday Morning

Cypress Brake

1 Drake Woodrow

Could have shot 20, but enjoyed watching them land all around my Dad and me too much.

Only ducks seen were Woodies but it was a memorable hunt none-the-less.

We hunted til 9 this morning and didn't fire a shot at a decoying duck...my buddies each took a pop-shot at hooded mergansers flying 100 mph. The ducks we saw did want to work a bit, but this di*khead that set up 150 yards behind us after daylight kept calling at the ducks that were working us and messing us up. That really pissed us off especially when he did it on EVERY group. The ducks were circling us and only us, weren't swinging wide or anything...got down 1/2 treetop high on the final approach and he preceded to hammer on them to keep them up. I lost it and called him a stupid MF and told him to quit that $hit. It was too late no ducks worked us after that. Believe it or not after his calling at our ducks and making us all so mad we still had the common courtesy NOT to call at the ducks that did come in and work him. There really weren't that many ducks to begin with though.

5 hunters killed 12 mallards. Needed more wind in the decoys early, ducks would get low but wouldn't quite come in range.

11/23 East Louisiana, 4 hunters 3 geese (trying to land in the decoys, kinda unusual), 4 limits of ducks.
11/24 Same place, different setup, 3 hunters, 3limits of ducks, 1 stupid goose trying to land in mallard machine.
11/29 West Mississippi, 4 hunters, 4ducks, but found a lot after the hunt.
11/30 West Mississippi, 4 hunters, 19 ducks
Have scouted extensively in public land in South Delta and found nothing.
