Need some help.

I have tried repeatedly to get my dog to bolt. I gradually step up my sticking in each session and intensify the sticking when I am by an inviting place to bolt to. I have tried a kennel, a truck door and even opened the door to my house. He just seems to kind of wig out with the higher intensity of sticking. Then I don't know what to do so I just heel out of the session and finish with a fun bumper. Got any tips for me?

How old is the dog?

What is wig out? Never heard of the expression.

Are you stick fetching? Usually stick fetching is about 2 sessions at the most.

I would just continue the dog in whatever program you are using and maybe catch him bolting in another phase of the training program.

The dog is 9 1/2 months old. I am going by ten min retriever right now. No stick fetching is done in the program before correcting bolting. I don't want to go on with it unfixed when I know I am at the stage to where I am able to do it, and he bolt off and something bad happen to him. When I say wig out it's just kind of like saying the dog is having a mini freak out. He tries to take refuge BEHIND me instead of in the kennel etc. or just shuts down period. And as a result with my inexperience I am not very sure what to do. So I just transition out of force and try to end the session on a good note. Aprreciate any help.

dont take this the wrong way but some dogs just cant take the preasure of forceing and remember that just like every dog is different there are many different ways to train them, Be careful with the preasure applied to the dog u can go to far and ruin a good dog.

Trust me blk, I aint the one that's gonna take training advice personally. I need advice and I know it. I know all dogs are different, that's why I am looking for some different tips. I can, however, say that over time through training my dog that he is not a pressure sensitive dog. He is quite hardy when it comes to having pressure applied. I really think it's more of a trainer mistake issue than him being too sensitive. I am doing something wrong on my part. But I guess for a couple of weeks i got to hold up on this process, let my dog out to pee and he gashed his pad open on something. Guess I can be doing some research on this while he is recovering.

Here is something that may be going on, I cant tell from your post but i know its a common problem and something for you to think about
Think about your attitude when applying force.
Some people apply force with anger.
It is usually very subtle on the handlers, they may try not to express there anger when increasing force, but it is still there and dogs can read it very well.
Dogs hate anger, and become very scared, confused and worry about what is going to happen next.
If it is just increased pressure/force with no anger the dog will think and respond to the pressure/force and not have to worry about if the owner, who represents his master and the focus of the dogs willingness to please is angry and dissapointed

Lukariffic I didn't think of that. I guess maybe after time I have gotten kind of frustrated. I'll keep that in mind it is hard for me to keep in mind to be calm and assertive. I sound like the dog whisperer now...
