I hate to rain on your parade, but that is the way a lot of towns and cities are going. It has already happened in Starkville, Metcalfe, Oxford, and is up for consideration in Tupelo and Hattiesburg if I'm not mistaken.

Tupelo's already there. The local smokers hate it.

Smells like a good idea. I read the state is considering it state wide for certain types of businesses. I have already banned it in my duck blind.

I do not really care one way or the other, BUT I think the business owner should have the final say. After all the owner is the owner. I know most people do not think of it this way, but it is just another "right" being taken away from business owners. What's next?

Like I said I do not care one way or another, but I think the owner should have the final say, and if the customer does not want to "smell the nasty shiiit" , they do not have to eat or shop there.

Last time I checked smoking was not a right, only a cancerous addiction that most of America would like to be without. It's a public health concern. The costs of treating smoking related illness is high. There is no reason on earth anyone should smoke, end of story.

Long as they don't ban it in the bars it will be fine wit me. I bet there are more smokers in a bar than nonsmokers

Here is a thought. If you dont want to smell smoke dont go in the private business where smoking is allowed.

Mayersville also banned smoking. I wonder if this ban includes crack.

Actually smoking is a right. Just like many other freedoms we enjoy that are now getting infringed upon. However, smokers don't have a right to cause health problems for someone else. That's why I get so upset about this issue and I don't even smoke. It's not about the smoke, it's about someone's God given right to kill themselves with a cancerous addiction if they want to. I'm sick and tired of people and the government telling me what I can or can't do to myself because it's "For my own well being". Hell, they aren't even giving bar owners the right to decide how to run their own businesses. If you want to smoke in a bar then you should be able to go to a bar that allows smoking. Granted said bar should have to very conspicuously sign the entrance saying that it is a smoking establishment, God forbid a non-smoker walks in mistakenly and hurts their precious lungs. If people don't want to inhale smoke then go to a non-smoking establishment and likewise for the smokers. But at least give the people back their choice.

Then why sue the smoking company and get millions after you get cancer? It's self inflicted. Health insurance rates are on the rise partly due to the high amount of smokers in America. I would say there's probably alot more non-smokers than smokers in America. Look at more rest., there's generally more seating for non-smokers. The biggest reason I don't goto clubs and bars because the smoke. I hate the smell of it and my eyes dry up like a desert.

I don't mind smoking people, I do mind inconsiderate smokers. Those that light up at will, blow smoke in your directions when they clearly see your not smoking, etc.

The one thing for me that would ruin a beautiful brunette in blue jeans climbing out of a 4wd truck is her puffing on a cig.
