Any/many ducks around?

Postby duckbeagle » Mon Nov 25, 2002 11:15 am

Ducks I saw the week before the season opened were gone this weekend. Group I hunt with had some success over the weekend but saw very few ducks overall. Drove thru parts of the norhtern delta Saturday afternoon and didn't see many ducks anywhere (lots of geese). I know it's early yet and we need weather but are there any counties or area's with good numbers right now?. Do any of the public area's have ducks in any numbers? Don't worry. Not trying to move in on your area, just curious if there's any numbers around this early.

Seen a good number of mallards and pintails, lot of shovelers. Heard good reports of pretty decent hunts on Saturday. 2 hunters and myself shot 14 Saturday about 20 miles north of Vicksburg all mallards and gadwall and saw alot of ducks flying south. Seen a good amount of migrators during the day around Cleveland and been seeing and hearing alot of geese. :)

We had plenty of ducks Saturday and Sunday but only in one of our holes. There is not enough water in the fields and a lot of our farmers are doing field work now getting ready for next year. The forecast for Wednesday is calling for snow north of us which should push some of these ducks in Missouri down.
