I am sitting here at work while most of you are out hunting i was doing a little thinking. ( I know kinda scary)
Well befor I got my blind bag I tok a lot less stuff than I do now. I was thinking back to a hunt we had early in the year. We met at 5:00 at the barn loaded up and drove to the edge of the field. Put on my waders, grabbed my call, shell holder, my gun, and my snuff can and headed to the hole. It is a pretty good little walk in. I relate this to acoupl of weeks ago and going to a different hole I had my waders on had my blind bag loaded with stuff just in case, a bag of decoys, and my shotgun and walk was a lot harder. Inside the alledge blind bag i find various tid bits of stuff: extra batteries AA and D, a tobaggon, a face gaiter (it might actually turn cold), a mag light, a headlight, 2 extra boxes of shells, a bottle of water, 2 extra cans of snuff, a roll of TP, digital camera, extra shell holder, a hand warmer, 2 knives, a duck tote and 2 pair of gloves. Now I know that seems like alot and it really don't bother me when we hunt out of the boat (because I ain't toting it.) Anyway I thought about if all this has helped me kill more ducks thatn in the past and I think no but I usually am more comfortable now.

What all do ya'll take to the hole with ya'll?

Man I really need to lighten my load!

said it before and I'll say it again

Gun, bullets, waders...all you need man

about three years ago while hunting some friends land I realized I ahd all the same chit you mentioned and I wagged this thing with me religious ly when i hunted, hell it was easy to grab and comforting to knwo that anything and everything I could possibly need was there and I could just grab it and go

then I took notice of the places we largely hunt (minus the river and the big water) heck one of our blinds is 1/2 mile if that from my buddies parents house...I mean if something went wrong we could dang near holler for help, not to mention there is only about 8-10 inches of water in this field...so I concluded that for the most part nothing serious was going to happen to us/me they way and places we hunt now

so...

Gun, bullets, waders and if I am feeling spry a thermos of coffee

...and they wrote it all down as the progress of man.

Why do you carry two extra boxes of shells?? The limit is 6 ducks...that is where a big part of the weight is coming from.

For real...I use one box of shells on several hunts. When I get down to about 8 shells, I dump in a few more.

No need for 2 extra boxes. Taking extra shells will psychologically make you shoot worse, because you know you have more shells.

I trick myself into shooting better by only taking a handful of shells!

I only take gloves, mask, skull cap when it's cold. When it's warm I take strap, calls and about 15 shells. I always take the camera.

I was wondering where the food was. Shells, waders, sometimes deeks if I am feeling spry, flashlight, and calls. Food and extra clothing is usually in the truck unless it is a pick-up hunt. You know, decide to go spur of the moment or am talked into it last minute like a pick up game of your favorite sport.
