That happens to be a new acorn that only grows in that spot. Naw I feed them from the time duck sason startes to the time it ends because I usually don't deer hunt during duck season. But I know that don't make it right.

Uh its not illegal to feed deer corn in the State of Mississippi.... Its illegal to hunt with the aid of bait. So feed all you want...as much as you want. Until the biologists in this state get together and get the legislature to make it illegal to bait period we'll continue to stay behind on deer management.

Hunting over bait and baiting. I cannot get an answer from anybody with the MDWFP as why its illegal to hunt over bait but not illegal to bait. Everybody argues that baiting causes disease and spreads disease but cant tell why it is illegal to hunt over bait in the state but not illegal to actually bait. If the biologist were that concerned about the spread of disease it seems like they would outlaw baiting all together. Sorry I just get fed up with the whole bait issue.

The main argument when hunting over bait comes up is the disease issue. Then why is baiting and not hunting over it legal? Anybody got the answer?

RDB,

I agree. If the main concern is spread of diseases then baiting period should be illegal. I heard that if a property has corn on any part of it then the whole place can not be hunted. That aint fair because if numerous people hunt on the same property, not everyone may be aware of the corn. I heard that everyone gets a ticket even if not in direct presence of the corn. This may be rumor, I dont know.

crowder critter, from what I understand that is not right. I think you have to be in seeing distance of the corn or with in a certain distance, but I am not sure. Now I have heard that if a camp or something gets caught hunting over corn a lot they can get shut down. Once again I am not positive about this.

If you have corn out a 300yrds away and a warden can prove you are hunting on a trail that leads the deer to the corn you can be cited for hunting over bait. The line of sight thing is not the law in Mississippi.

The thing about clubs is an International Paper thing. If you have land leased from them and you get caught they can void the lease. The state has no right to shut a camp down because they are baiting or breaking any other law.

so it is up to the GW discrimination if you are hunting over corn. I guess that makes sense
