Layout Blinds

Postby rboudet » Mon Jan 08, 2007 10:19 am

Does anyone have any info on the, Final Approach Eliminator "Sport Utility Blind" or the Goose View X-Terminatorâ„¢Layout Hunting Blind. Price is an issue.
The Final Approach looks roomy but I am not sure if I like the boxy look as compared to the X-Terminator which has a more tapered low profile look. I have no experience with layout blinds and the area we hunt would be perfect for this. Any info would be appreciated. Also would the neo tub fit other blinds with similar dimensions. Thanks

I have the SUB and really like it. Plenty of room and pretty comfortable.

Thanks it does look roomy but it looks kind of high profile and box shaped. How much water can you have under you before you get wet? Besides the mesh viewing area will it keep the rain out.

The mesh will NOT keep the rain out. 6" is about the practical limit on how much water you can put any of the blinds in, and that depends on how hard the bottom is you are hunting on. (don't forget those rascals float, too).

I dont use the mesh, I have a hard time looking out of it. I have had mine in about 2 inches of water. It is kind of box shaped but if camoed right it looks great. I like the box shape because you have nothing laying on you like the flap doors. It is worth the money.

layout blinds

I have a Drake layout blind and I can tell you that it is great for marshes and rice fields. No worry about leakage since these are made of canoe-quality abs plastic. A little bulky to haul around but a joy to hunt in!

I have a FA Pro-Guide which is similar dimensions to S.U.B.......and yes, it is a bit 'boxy'......so much so, that I only use it in wheat/barley fields. We have Finishers that we use in certain situations because they are lower profile.......but there is always a trade-off (less 'set-up' ease and less roomy). But I definately think the low profile is more of a consideration in fields with little cover....(peas, beans, plowed corn, flooded fields, etc)
Also would the neo tub fit other blinds with similar dimensions.
Yes.....the neo-tub for the Migrator should work on the FA blinds

Thanks Anatidae, we hunt the edges of flooded ponds and fields not really out in the middle of a flat ag field. We have cover on and in the flooded areas so it should work just fine and for 140.00/ea I couldn't pass it up. (Went with the SUB). The property we have is replanted WRP land so in 10years or so it will be back to timber anyway. I just know after last weekend of laying down on the ground any layout blind would be an improvement.
