Mallard MAchine for x-mas

Got a mallard machine for x-mas and was wondering if you guys have had better luck getting the ducks to commit with the extra motion on the water? Also, how does it pull the decoys down and look like they are feeding? The bar they are attached to is stationary on the motor. Instructions were horrible so maybe I put it together correctly.

I have one and it works pretty good. If you have it at the correct depth, it will make the decoys look like the are feeding. Just play around with it at different depths and good luck.

Are the decoys butt up all the time or do they bob up and down? The videos on the net make it look like they are pulled down some how and then pop back up but I can't seem to figure out how it would do that.

Jerk string with several on it at intervals of 10 to 20 feet apart in the middle of your set-up is better. Mallard man is to much trouble if hunting different areas frequently.

Thanks, I was thinking the motor sat on the ground under the water, but it looks as if the decoys hold it up near the surface. For you guys that have one, approx how deep from the water surface is the machine? HOw long is the strings from the arms to the dekes?

you need to get to the duck blind 1.5 hrs early if youre using a mallard machine...

The decoys will not hold the motor at the correct depth, the motor needs to be on the bottem, and most of the time you have to stake it down to keep it from "swimming" all over the place. if it is to shallow, it will make alot of noise and spook ducks. you will figure it out.

Rigged it up and threw it in the pool to try it out, works perfect- 2 groups circled for about 10 minutes or so

I did stick it in the pool and It looks like it's doing what it is supposed to do.......

If you have enough ducks that want in your hole, you don't need all that gadget stuff. I'm goin in the mornin to see if my records hold true. It seems like they always thicken up aroung the new year. We've killed more this year than the same time frame last year and in Jan we killed 3 times the ducks we killed in Dec.

Not only that, it will pull whatever vegetation is on the bottom of your hole in the prop. Plus, it will tangle the wire to the floating battery in the prop too (if you have the remote one). My buddy had one and it was a pain in the booty to use. We used it once and had the worse luck on using it and never used it again. It looks great and maybe you can figure out how to work it properly. It is also a pain to transport in your boat or 4 wheeler, especially if you hunt public land.
