Dad's First Buck of Season

Chasing doe came out at 100 yds would not turn to face him
He did not know width. Where we hunt we have minimun spread of 16 in.
He said the side looked to good to pass up as far as he knew it could of been 18 in wide the deer was chasing a doe on a narrow road. Shame of it is that deer costed him $200 extra to the club.

nice tall rack...

spread is only air and not always an indication of the age of deer...should think about main beam lengths as a tool for management...

i would much rather shoot a tall and heavy but not wide buck over a short thin tined 20" buck...

Nice buck. My dad's club has a 13 inch inside spread or a 15 inch main beam length for their rules. If you mess up they charge you $100. Also a doe has to weigh 60 pounds or more.

That is a perfect rack! They should have made an exception on this one. It would not have gotten any wider.

Jaw bone was aged around 3 1/2. The main beam curves in so quick I dont know if it would of ever been alot wider. Maybe a a inch or two. O no doubt it would of been a good one next year. Its a good one this year. another year of height and mass would of made a great mounter.
