reference pic
The Mottled Duck (Anas fulvigula) occurs in the southeast United States as well as the Gulf coast of parts of Mexico. It is superficially similar to a female Mallard but has a different speculum, bill color, and darker plumage overall.

Actually no... they were by theirselves. I have killed enough hen mallards in my day to know what one looks like. I hate to say it... Even shot one this mornin. It was DEFINATELY something else... I agree. The pics do look a lot like a hen mallard. I guess the pictures just don't truly justify it. Maybe it was just one of those things a man just has to see for himself, with his own eyes, and in person.

You have got to be kidding...
Those are 2 hen mallards and thats it... you might as well
quit trying to make it into something else. I think you are
just embarrased b/c you are on a mississippi duck hunting website
and you don't even know what a hen mallard looks like.
And don't get P.O. at me for my comment, but what if i had put a
pic of a hen woodduck on here and called it a weidgon or something...i would deserve to get called out.

I CAN NOT BELIEVE there is actually an argument on here as to what kind of duck that is. That is UNBELIEVEABLE!!! I don't care what you say about it looks different in person, If that is the fact, YOU NEED A NEW CAMERA!! That is a mallard hen, take your beating, lick your wounds and, just my 2 cents, DON'T EVER, post something like that on here again!!! Lesson learned!!!!
1st- I can post what i want.
2nd- I admitted I was wrong already and in the OP I said that I could be wrong.
3rd- This is getting way out of hand and I apologize. So can we drop it now.
I think most of us are amazed that the other guy is saying that "these are definitely NOT hen mallards"
not so much at you....taking into regard your disclaimer in the first post.
