UF v. Ohio State

Postby Deltamud77 » Tue Dec 19, 2006 3:33 pm

What are your thoughts on this game?

Here are my thoughts...

First of all, aside from maybe USC, I cannot think of two schools I dislike more than these two. (No offense to the Florida fans on the board...it is more to do with your coach than your school).

With that being said, I don't know that any of the national commentators will be giving UF a chance unless they are trying to stir the pot. Maybe they are right. Ohio State has been less than impressive in several games this year, but then again, so has Florida.

Both teams have risen to the occasion in big games, except Florida against Auburn. A really bad call against Chris Leak handed that game to Auburn (imagine that, a call going in favor of AU at home).

Athletically the teams are similar, with overall team speed being in favor of Florida. The x-factors in the game IMO are Percy Harvin for Florida and Gonzalez (not Ginn) for Ohio State. Whoever has the biggest game for their team tips the balance heavily. I think the combo of Leak and Tebo cancel out Troy Smith. The running games are actually pretty similar and the defenses are both solid. The best defensive player on the field will be Reggie Nelson of Florida. This is blasphemous to say on a Mississippi board, but I think, although Willis is an SEC all-time great, that Nelson should have been the SEC Defensive player of the year.

Sadly, I think the injuries to Florida D-line, along with a player being kicking off the team from the D-line will lead to their demise. Ohio State will score a special teams or defensive touchdown and play ball control and take advatage of a depleted UF D-line.

Ohio State 31 Florida 20. A late OSU TD makes the score look worse than the game really was. Nevertheless, the commentators (Herbstreit and the like) will talk of OSUs domination of an SEC school. If UF wins, they will talk about how it is a fluke and (assuming Michigan beats USC) how there should be a split national title.

it is almost a tough call for me...but I can't pull for Florida...too bad they can't tie....

UF is fast, but I think their offense won't be able to keep up with Ohio State, their O-line just isn't quit as good as they need to be.... UF's defense will keep them close for a while but fatigue will set in eventually....

Now I hope LSU rings up a half a hundred on Notre Dame by halftime...and all the other SEC Schools win big.... But I cannot pull for UFag...all apologies to the UF fans on the board...there is something in the water in Georgia that made me this way.....

Gordon - there is a rumor among university of Fl fans that Urban Meier got on the phone with Mark Richt and said "Tell ya what, you vote for us to play in the BCS conference game, and we will vote for you if you ever stand a chance." But it's just a joke because we know GA will never be good enough to play in the BCS game.

Seriously, ya gotta pull for the SEC teams, we have the toughtest schedules, and that don't recognized enough.

Let's hope it's as good as last year's BCS Championship game. I watched that one again on ESPN Classic about a month ago. One of the best ever.

Last year's game was the best I have ever seen and probably ever will see. Aside from the actual game, you have the story line that ESPN had been running the previous month about USC being the greatest team ever. You have two Heisman winners and a runner-up. You have the movie-star factor at the Rose Bowl. Sports really doesn't get any better at any level.

As bad as I hate to say it, ND is going to beat LSU. LSU has too many irons in the fire right now. Jimbo Fisher is flirting with other schools like a starving prostitute at truck stop. Jamarcus Russell has one foot in the NFL as does Glenn Dorsey. Russell, in hopes of jumping to #1 overall status above Quinn will be pressing. He is not good when he is trying to be good, look at Auburn and Florida this year.

If LSU wins, it will be by the smallest of margins. Notre Dame has no business playing in a BCS Bowl. However, they will be playing an LSU program under some degree of stress who has a tendency to believe the hype. Nobody is giving ND a chance. On paper, LSU should run away with it. ND will out coach LSU. ND has a lot riding on this game for the future of their program and they realize this. LSU has a lot riding on it too, although they don't seem to realize it yet.

LSU will win by less than four or loss by at least 20, mark my words.

I'm still wondering who the hell "Chris Rick" is

...and nope I can't pull for Florida...I just won't watch.... Of course Ohio State is burdened with the Heisman jinx so I don't look for them to win....

As for LSU...ND doesn't have the athelete's to compete...Jimbo Fisher is overrated (there is a reason he isn't a HC yet even though he's been rumored to be a candidate for every opening for the past few years...and I can't help but wonder why Saban didn't bring him to Miami if he was that good).... LSU has won this year on talent alone in spite of coaching, at least that's my take and why I think ND won't win.... ND will out coach LSU, but Brady Quinn won't know what hit him after the game was over, he just thought Michigan's D was tough....

I will pull for UF but OSU is going to win by 10+. Once again the best team in the SEC doesn't win the Conference (LSU). UF is not very good IMO.

Pulling for Florida because they are SEC and I can not stand Ohio State. I just don't like they way they project themselves, there attitudes, and most of all there coach. Just my opinion.
