Whats wrong with the DUCKS

Postby littlediesel » Tue Dec 19, 2006 11:28 pm

Last week we could be laughing doing jump-n-jacks in the spread and ducks came in. All we did was a real soft call and used a jerk-a-duck with 12 decoys and they wanted in there. 8)

Ok the jerk-a-duck is not working anymore. We tried calling slow, fast, low, high, feed call and not calling and we got nothing. What is the deal? I spoke with a buddy of mine and he said they have been killing 3 limits to 6 limits a day since they went back to the mojo! They hunt 2 to 3 miles away from us. They are hunting a different spot every time they hunt so they don't mess up any of there spots. They hunt every day except Fridays. They have six holes with in a 1 mile radious. We have 2 holes and only hunting them once a week.

My buddy don't normally use a mojo but they said they kept seeing large amounts of ducks high and there jerk-a-duck wasn't working. So they went to the mojo. They are very happy now. 8)

Sounds like your not on the "X" and they are with a little luck mixed in. Keep trying different things. Alot of the duck around in high pressure areas have been there-done that kinda thing.......

I firmly believe ducks and geese have the capacity to 'pattern' us as much as we have, to 'pattern' them.

Last Saturday at Mathews I killed a bunch of gads with an F/A-18. I vectored in on 220 at 500 AGL, popped up 1 NM from the sanctuary line to release clusters then banked hard due west spewing chaff and got the hell out of dodge with the afterburners looking like roman candles. So many damn spinners got reflect on my targeting radar and had to release visual. Heavy flak the whole run.

Get your son to put out the decoys

Postby 2Shot » Wed Dec 20, 2006 9:22 am

Hey Diesel,

Quit putting out the decoys. You need to get your son to do it. From what I hear, he is on target. At some point in your life you must allow your son to shine in your duck hole. And it is time for dad to just have a seat and enjoy the ride. Heck, he might just load your gun for you.

Good luck and happy hunting.
