Do dove decoys really work?

I'm looking foward to shooting a few doves this weekend. Who has hunted with "robodoves", and do they work? How many doves do you boys have in ya'lls fields? [img]images/smiles/icon_razz.gif[/img]

I don't know about the robodoves but the dove decoy works Put five or six on a fince line or in a bare tree and they will draw them in. [img]images/smiles/icon_cool.gif[/img]

Dove decoys work. You can get a tall metal pole with "branches" and place your decoys out on the branches. It sure helps to get them to come by for a look-see.

do you really want it to work - give me a break!! i wouldn't be opposed to using the stationary dove decoys, although i've never used them.If i brought one of those robo dove to our hunt, i would get laughed off the damn field.If i shot birds off of one i would feel even worse - its the same old argument, just a different bird. I'd be too ashamed and embarrassed to hunt over a robo-dove. However, I do have a full-body dove decoy clipped to the back of my chair this year, I'll let you know how it worked next week.

RoboDove works like a charm. I was at Bass Pro Shop this past weekend and they were flocking to buy those things! If you mean do they attract doves, couldn't tell you. But they work great at attracting folks with more money than brains! Saw four of them bought in 30 minutes. [img]images/smiles/icon_wink.gif[/img]

Allright buckaroos, If you want a sure thing, listen up. Here's what you need:

1. 2 dove decoys
2. 1 heavy duty fishin pole, a Browning 7' citori flippin stick works best with that camo mono.

Here's what you do. If you got the feather flex dekes, cutem open at the seam and insert some kinda weight and glue the seam back. Attach the end of the mono to the decoy back behind the neck; how you do it is your own business. Go to the middle of the field where the power line crosses and set up at the base of the pole (watch out for ants!). walk a few yards down and cast that decoy over the line and pull it tight. Yes I know the deke is UNDER the wire, but the birds just dont care, or at least till its not too late. Back up a few steps, cut the line, tie it to a stick and stick the stick in the ground. If no stick is available, tie the line around a dirt clod. Repeat for the other decoy.

Use discretion in shooting them as they land; I recomend getting them about 10 yards out. GOOD LUCK!

I dont know about you all but i think dove decoys are a little too much! I wouldnt waste my money. They aint worth it i usally go the first weekend for fun and dont go again till next year! [img]images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif[/img]

Ill probably catch alot of hell for this but oh well.Its apparent that Night Duck hasnt been around long enough to see all the robo post that have been posted. And yall know me I dont get in on those discussions to fight on if I should or should not. Its time we got past it and got on with it. If someone posts and wants to know if a robo of any type work,just give them an honest ansewer. We all know that so and so wouldnt be caught dead around one and old so and so would get laughed off the field if he brought one. But most of the robo posts want to know if they work as this one does. Night Duck , dove decoys do work as alot have said,and a biologist I work with said the robo dove wrked better than the robo duck from what hes seen. Hope this helped you. I have used up to one half dozen featherlite dove decoys. I placed them all on the ground about twenty yards in front of where I was sitting. The majority of the birds flew right over but a few (not so bright/Dead) tried to land on the ground.
