Learn how to control your spit. Hey, that's what John Stephens told me.

Best thing to use is chapstick at the base of the reed where the cork is inserted. Rain-x works also but I lose some rasp when I use it. The closer the reed is to sticking, the better it sounds.

I agree, Rain X does wonders for the ole duck call. Keeps them from freezing also.

Soak the reed in 8 yr. Old Charter overnight. It prolly won't keep it from sticking but it will sho nuff limber up that ol reed.

Great minds think alike. Chew Red Man Gold to get the call on the verge of sticking for maximum raspy sound. Take several calls with you. When the action gets a little slow, clean any sticking calls with Old Starter. Use the Rain X to clean the tobacco stains off your calls. Use the chap stick on your lips for its intended purpose. And if all else fails, just keep your call in your pocket. Now, that sounds like a plan to me.

You can also try blowing from the side of the opening of the call...much like Mr. Darling from Mayberry would blow on the side of that Ole Brown Jug. Have tried it and it does work. Of course, this is after your call is sticking. I'll have to try the Chapstick approach to prevent the sticking in the first place.

Also, forgot about this, y'all try blowing your calls reed down. It will add some rasp to the tone and won't stick nowhere near as much.
