Eating Ringbill

Postby rsz71 » Thu Dec 14, 2006 10:02 am

Before ya'll jump all over me for killing divers, we did shoot a few Ringbills, and being curious I breasted them along with the gadwalls and teal.

Yesterday I marinated them all together in Ranch, lemon juice, Lee & Perrins,
and a spoon of spicy mustard. I put a jalapeno slice on each breast and wrapped them with a half piece of bacon and grilled them.

They were great and none of us could tell any difference in flavor in any of the meat.

Just a thought if any wind up on the strap.

Just goes to show you could marinate a old shoe long enough and grill it, it will taste good.

you talking ringnecks or blue bills... i have eaten ringnecks and made good eatin. you have to skin them like a deer but they are ok... if i kill it i will make an attempt to cook it.. i grilled out a few GW teal the other eve and one was not fit to eat :?: i think a possum would even taste good with that recipe.

I just hate cleaning them and wood ducks. Like Judge said you have to skin them like a deer. Hell cleaning a deer is easier.

O/U I think you meant "Lagoon" dont let Bigwater show you how to spell anymore, he will give Pelahatchie boys a bad name................

Ringbill is another name for ringnecks... kinda like calling shovelers a spoonbill.

Ringnecks in a rice field are good, after all they are a puddle duck not a diver. However, bluebills/dos gris/scaup are a different deal. However you can wrap either in bacon, jalapeno, and cream cheese and they will taste great.

IF YOU MARINATE IT LONG ENOUGH AND WRAP IT IN BACON, THEN ROAD KILL WILL BE GOOD
