Hey Wandy,
Dukbum lives out on the REZ off 43hwy. and he is ok! Not a serial killer at least that we know of!
He has hunted the REZ more times that about 25 of us Rankin guys put together. I been out there 30 or so times in the 14 years that I have lived in Rankin Co. I quit going about 3 years ago as I rarley see a limit(except on aforementioned Refuge) much less shoot one. Lucky to shoot 1or2 birds on any given day unless you know the few secert spots.

Take the comments witha grain of salt, some are down-right funny!!
Since your dad preaches . . . there has to be someone in the pews that will offer to take ya hunting. Try that route.
Good luck with the Rez, I've hunted it with cwinkler. Like most people say, there are good days and bad days, and this coming from a guy hunting near the bottom of the thing.
Check your PM

hunting
no one mad at you . i would like to see you and your dad come down one maybe 2 days if you can . i have a duck house yall can stay at and we will hunt and i promise we will get to do some shooting. it wont cost you nothing but your gas to get here. you will have a better chance here than on the rez. let me know if you want to come but if not one of these cats on here from jack-town ought to be able to show you a spot or two or atleast carry you once in a while. good luck and hope you can get down here if possible. pm me if you are really wanting to see a good hunt or 2!!
You can drive down pipeline road and find several holes that you can walk too with a little effort. Look at window live local or something like that. It is a pretty good map but a five or so year out dated. Find a hole and do some walking. This being said I have never had much luck on the west bank. If i could figue how to get GPS coordinates I'd tell ya.

No, i don't want to know you ---- teul

Wandy,
I, like you, had a dad that could't take me when I was 10. Coach Fred Freckie was a good friend of his that coached baseball at Calhoun Community College in Decatur Alabama where we lived. Coach Frick used to take me to Swan Creek Management Area and we would hunt the mud flats or stump rows off the TN river. We would have to walk FOREVER and lean on stumps. I never killed a duck out there but went every time I was asked. Used to wear three pairs of socks and plastic garbage bags inside my waders and would still freeze. Hands used to get so cold I couldn't zip my pants after I pee'd much less load my gun. He finally took us to a spot that we could shoot at woodducks coming off the roost in the morning in the middle of a cotton field and killed my first when I was 13. My mom would take us before school out there and out to a friends place. She would read a book in the car while we hunted. She would get so mad when I used to come in with ice on the inside of my waders.
I would ride my bike to the Wheeler wildlife refuge and listen to ducks and practicing calling with my COMMANDER that my cousin gave me for Christmas one year. I got good enough that I would get invited to go and call for guys.
All I can say is don't give up. Opportunities will come. There are a lot of great people out there that will help. Get a tape and practice calling and in two years you'll be able to drive yourself to your own honey hole.
P.S. Don't forget to buy your stamps and legal permits. (another story)
