Just to clarify myself before this goes to far, i am not trying to start any contraversy... but i was wondering what the prices were for non-resident liscense and wma permits for the state of mississippi ?? last time i heard, i heard that our non-resident prices were awfully low compared to those of louisiana and arkansas, and i was wondering if there was a certain reason for this because if this true, i think it is bull $^#@ that out of state hunters can come to MS and hunt for a little of nothing (mainly talking about the ones that are hunting the public lands), cause i know that over half of the boats that were at matthews brake opening weekend were out of state people and also there were a number at the scatters and six-mile when i rode by them also that were out of state peope, But if we try to go out of state it cost us an arm and a leg for lisense... once again this is just what i heard and i am going to both arkansas and louisiana this year to duck hunt and i know that it is no where near cheap for my non-resident liscense for either place... what is your opinion on this matter???

Miss out of state is like $95. This issue comes up every year. I personally don't think they should raise it unless it is just way out of line with the other southern states. I hunt private land that we own and pay Mississippi taxes on but live in Alabama, so of course I don't want to see it go up.

Just bought the out of state license for AR. The small game license (1 year) is 80$ and the state stamp is 20$.

I don't think we are any cheaper. MS is a lot more expensive than AR for example. These prices are for a full years license.

This is whats required of a non-resident to hunt public land per the MDWFP website.

I stand corrected.
I did not see that one.
But they would still have to have a WMA permit @ $15.00 making it $120.00

In my opinion you should not try to exclude anyone by bumping up the prices of licenses. I do think that the license should be more for out of staters but dont let it get out of hand. I am a MS resident but I like to go to AR occasionally and I am happy that it is not much more than what it is because duck hunting is already expensive enough without bumping up license prices. If there are to many out of state people here (and I am not sure that there are) then an option would be to limit the number of out of state licenses that are issued. That would have some people hot but I would rather see that exlude people from hunting in MS than driving them out because they cant afford it!

One idea would be to charge the non-resident whatever fee the would charge a MS non-resident to hunt in their state. I live in West Tenn and have duck and deer and turkey hunted exclusively in MS for the past 20 years.(That's where family is). MS charges me about 2 times for a non-resident license that TN would charge someone from MS.

If you are hunting on public land hunting pressure is going to always be an issue whether it is AL folks hunting in Miss or GA folks hunting in AL. There are just as many if not more Miss hunters at these Miss boat ramps at 4am as there are Oosers. It is just a fact of life, not much can be done about it.
Hunt during the week. You should have the entire place to your self.

I am being serious and I agree with you. Public land is just that public. I am not advocating a change. I was trying to make the point that we should not raise the prices of the license to try to exclude out of state hunters. If that was done you would just be excluding a particular income class.

Most people from out of state are going to buy the 7 days very few will stay longer or make more than 1 trip. Unless they have a lease ect. If there coming to hunt they probably already have a Fed stamp which is good everywher. I think Arkansas is a few $$'s higher due to there 5 day permit is $55.00. I know alot of the Northern states like Iowa & Minnesota did away with te 5 or 7 day lisc. I guess to get more money. I think my new signature saying will be Why does everyone hate out of state hunters, but love out of state ducks?

I think it would be nice to have a set price for out of state hunters across the country. Kind of level the playing field for everyone but I dont think that will happen anytime soon.
