GHG Shells

Postby stitch » Fri Dec 01, 2006 9:13 pm

I just got two dozen GHG shell decoys. The instructions said to keep each decoy seperat / individually wraped. I know they say to seperate the full bodies, but the shells????? Recomendations on how to care for them please......

What's the point of shells if you can't stack'em?

That's their new way of keeping the paint from chipping.

Or having to replace a whole bunch of shells if the paint chips. "Sorry sir, but your GHG shells were not properly cared for since they were stacked instead of stored individually. Therefore, we are not responsible for replacing them."

Stitch,

Did you get the FFD(fully flocked) Shells? If so, I would also keep them seperate. If you got the Over-Size series, it would be fine to stack them. I use the FFD Speck decoys every morning I hunt in a field and I keep them stored in the slotted bags to protect the flocking.

After the post from the summer on the GHG equipment (the kid getting blasted by the GHG rep online) I wouldn't buy crap from them. If you want quality decoys buy quality decoys.

.....I'm not concerned about buying a bag to put them in......my purpose for buying shells was for "space". If I had known I was going to have to store them seperately, I would have purchased full bodies :?

In fact, the advertisement says you can stack them, directions in the box say store seperately :x

Scott - can you stack the mallard shells? I hunted over the full bodies this weekend and they are by far the most realistic decoy I have ever seen.

I got the a dozen of each shown below. Again, all advertisements say "stack" the. The literature that came with the decoys said to store seperately???????????????

Available in Active or Feeder Style Packages

Over-Sizeâ„¢ Duck Shell Decoys
Perfect for big field spreads! Unlike other duck shells that are just duck decoys with the bottoms cut off, these shells are made from GHG® full body ducks so their “5/8 body” give the full effect from anywhere a duck can see them. They stack great so you can store and haul up to 4 times more shells than FBM’s, and their seamless design makes breast splitting impossible. One dozen Universal Motion Stakes included.

Specifications for Active w/ Universal Motion Stakes:

8 Drakes/4 Hens
Drake Length: 15.875" Height: 17.75"
Hen Length: 15.75" Height: 17.75"
Keel: 12 ea 18" UMSâ„¢
Drake Heads: 4 Semi-Rester/4 Active
Hen Heads: 2 Semi-Rester/2 Rester
Specifications for Feeder w/ Universal Motion Stakes:

8 Drakes/4 Hens
Drake Length: 16.375" Height: 17.75"
Hen Length: 16.125" Height: 17.75"
Keel: 12 ea 18" UMSâ„¢
Drake Heads: 4 Left Feeder/4 True Feeder

case being that they shouldn't advertise them as being stackable, then re-nig on the internal instructions. That's the whole reason for buying stackable shell decoys is to be able to conserve space. I prefer to carry my 12 packs of diet cokes in the cartons they came in instead of 12 individual cans.

Yes, I stack them. I have been carrying them in just a mesh decoy bag and they do fine like that. To get some added motion, I ream out the hole with my UMS.
