Well, it appears that I gave Alabama too much credit. IT now appears that they DID NOT have a replacement for Shula already locked up before firing him. And I thought Pete Boone was dumb.
No, it now appears that the initial part of this coaching search was fueled by arrogance --- the mindset that if we just fire Shula and annouce the new job opening, every top, name coach in the country will come crawling to Alabama for this great job. Well, down goes Spurrier, Saban, Grobe. And it appears that Johnson (Navy) and Rodriguez (W. Virginia) are highly doubtful. IT now appears that this search is going to take awhile to find the "right" candidate.
And BTW, BBB is a man of his word, who follows his own advice. He STAYED HOME from every college football game this season.
