I'm from SC and just wanted to say that when I came to Miss. a couple of years ago I met some of those nice people in your state as well. I'm a teacher and coach that hunted in SC when it had it's hayday but unfortunately it has passed. I tried Ark. but got tired of the crowds. Next I tried your great state and found it to be wonderful. We didn't mop up but we were able to see lots of ducks and meet alot of great people. My son is now three and when he gets a little older I will introduce him to Miss. duck hunting. I could almost see that older gentleman while you were describing him. I sit around here and listen to the old deer hunters tell stories about SC before it got so civilized.
If you sleep with dawgs, you get fleas.

Double_R.....nice pics! Good take o' birds in all.

I realize we'll be at a disadvantage, freelancing for the first couple o' years. I think you have to be able to stay up there for a while and ride the ups and downs. 'Don't know if we can handle that expense, but it's certainly something to strive for.

JUST WONDERING WHY YOU CHOSE CANADA OVER SAY NORTH OR SOUTH DAKOTA. I HAVE HUNTED ALBERTA AT THE BRADLEY MARSH OFF LAKE ST. CLAIRE. DUCK NUMBERS THAT WERE UNBELIEVABLE, SOME GEESE. IT WAS FANTASTIC. I AM NOW CONSIDERING A COMBINATION DUCK/ PHEASANT HUNT IN SOUTH DAKOTA FOR NEXT SEASON. I HAVE SOME FRIENDS THAT HUNT PHEASANT THERE AND HAVE GIVEN ME SOME GOOD INPUT FOR HUNTING DUCKS IN THIS AREA. SHOULD I DO THIS OR TRAVEL FURTHER NORTH?

Main reason was 'cause that's where the group I went with had been before. I was thankful for the invitation to go with them.

I WOULD like to cut the distance down a bit so I can take more gear......bit's a 30 hr drive to Sask, from Columbus. The other alternative is to ship your gear, fly-up, and rent a vehicle.

I think ND puts a limit on the number of out-of-stater permits.....'not sure about SD. I've heard either one is good for waterfowl at certain times of the year but starting to become resentful of outside intrusion.
