Orange Army
Well, the redneck christmas will finally be here this weekend. That's right, opening weekend of gun season in good ole Ms. Every gun wheeling redbone will be out slinging lead and messing up my bow hunting. If I was a doe or a basket rack buck I would be finding me a nice sized log to hide under from friday till monday morning. I guess my good ole quiet woods will be turned into a war zone come sat. morning. I may just have to open up duck season a little early cause every deer in the county will be runing from all the trigger happy gunners this weekend.
Chopper, watch the bobber!

I know, I like bowhunting too, but the property owner won't let us bowhunt. I don't know why, but he won't, so we have to wait and wait to get to hunt. We would not have nearly the doe problem if he allowed us to do some bowhunting, but then again, the property is mostly crp fields and that makes for some difficult bowhunting.
On another note, it is a lot like Christmas eve for many hunters. I remember laying awake when I was 8 or 9 years old just waiting on that alarm clock. It brings back many good memories of going hunting with my dad.

I agree on this sentiment...and it's fine on some notes...but the bad far out weighs the good nowdays in my mind. Too many idiots, too many guns, too much shooting, too many days allowed, too much freedom, etc, etc

I do agree that there are too many monkeys with guns. If I had to hunt public land (wma's) I would probably quit deer hunting. I also feel like the gun season could be shortened. I veel like the biggest problem is too many people just don't have any hunter ettiquette and don't realize the seriousness of carrying and firing a hi powered rifle.

Well, I am the worst of all cases! I care nothing about gun hunting, don't wanna do anything but bowhunt and I don't have a hunting lease this year of any kind. I got screwed. So imagine how I feel now! I am stuck hunting WMA's with the gun hunters. Not only that but the state increased the gun seasons on state lands for most of the land I hunted b/c it had restricted gun seasons...for all practical purposes, my season ends Friday afternoon...

I understand that. I certainly see it from that side. I remember hunting them (wma's and national forests) when i was a kid. Orange everywhere!
I have bowhunted for 10 yrs or so, and over the past 3 I have really gotten to enjoy it alot more. I have permission to hunt 2 really great pieces of property and the owner does not allow any hunting until rifle season starts, so when we finally get turned loose, I would hunt them with a spear if that was the rule. Neither property is set up very well for bowhunting. I joined a little club so that I would have a place to bowhunt.
