Walkers game ear
Walkers game ear
I am considering buying a Walkers game ear because I would love to still be able to hear duck wings and turkeys gobble when I'm older. Have any of you used this product?
Be still boys they're fixing to do the dance.

I use ESP electronic ear plugs. Same principle, just "in the ear." They work wonders for dove, quail, pheasant, turkey and deer hunting. They also work for duck hunting WITH one caveat. Since they compress loud noise (gunshots) they will also "compress" your duck call. You will just either have to get used to how a compressed duck call sounds, or learn to mess with the gain.
When I get tired of fooling with the ESP's, I just put a single foamy in my left ear and get on with things. You left ear gets most of the damage if you are a right handed shooter, and vice-versa for lefties.

This is what I have used for skeet for the past 10 years. Couldn't be happier. Need to be fitted by an audiologist.

This will be my 4th duck season to use the Walker's Game ear and I've enjoyed it a lot. They allow me to hear the sounds of ducks as they circle overhead and carry on conversations with my hunting buddies, something I couldn't do using regular earplugs. They're not the greatest for deer hunting. When you put an earplug in the ear opposite the Game Ear it's hard to tell which direction a sound is coming from.

I have a pair of Walker Quad power muffs I use for deer hunting when it's cold (good ear muffs) and turkey hunting. Also have a Game Ear 2 for when it's warmer for deer hunting. I have a fleece mask I wear over my head for warmth and covers my face for duck hunting, the Game Ear 2 doesn't work too well that way. Lots of feedback. The muffs will work. I do worry about dropping it into the water. If you need something a Game Ear is alot cheaper than some of those more expensive ones and if you send it swimming it wouldn't hurt the pocketbook so much. Usually duck hunting I just put in an ordinary earplug in my right ear (I shoot left handed) so I don't get the muzzel blast. I still have so good hearing in the left. "It works for me" like the commercial says.
